Title: Bandit 1200 rotors Swap-able with GS?
Post by: TragicImage on April 12, 2007, 12:56:50 PM
ok, so... guru type people...

95-2000 bandit rotors hold the same Galfer part number (314) as the GS does....

So... does that make them another option? or should I only consider it for Galfer only parts?

Front rotor or rear ???
I thought the bandit rotors were smaller diameter in front. Rear of course may be the same for both. Try original suzuki, bike bandit part numbers.
Cool.

it'd be for the front.

No bandits and GS' all have 310mm rotors.  I'll have to double-check the part numbers but I think that the 600 and 1200 have lower offsets on the rotors because the Bandits have 4-piston chompers.

Rotors are the same, check out EBC listings

EDIT

Bandit 1200(ALL YEARS less ABS) Rotors are the same as the GS500 rotor

GS500 is 59210-01D40.  B12 is 59210-31E30.    The rotors are different but they're the same diameter and the carriers are the same.

Thats OEM numbers

From every aftermarket supplier of GS500 and Bandit 1200 Rotors they are the exact same part number, both from EBC and Galfer

If you want I can go out side and pull of the one from a Bandit 1200 and put it on the GS if you need to(j/k that is way to much frickin work, but look for your self)
OEM numbers show that they are different, but they also show that a 01+ shock is different than a 90-99' shock

The OEM part numbers state that the rotors are different.  They're a solid part with the same physical dimension but the stock GSF and GS rotors are different.

62100-01D10- Rear Shock for a 1999 GS500E

62100-01D21- Rear Shock for a 2004 GS500F

Same part different part number

Makenzie71 you really dont know what you are talking about, yes the Bandit Rotots and GS500 rotors have different part numbers, infact I bet alot of interchangeable parts have different part numbers.

The rotor is the same diameter, and the carrier bolt pattern and offset is the same, hence why EBC and Galfer list the exact same part number for a rotor, which includes the carrier, for both the GS500 and the Bandit 1200. Unless you buy rotors without the carrier  :icon_razz:

Better example for you Mackenzie71

59210-01D40- Front Rotor for a 1999 GS500E

59210-01DA0- Front Rotor for a 2004 GS500E

Different part number, same part....so whats your point

Are you trying to say the porsche drilling pattern is different or something

it doesn't make a f%$k what the galfer and EBC part numbers are because they use they're own damn numbers...and I've said twice now that the damn rotors are the same size.  Being the same f%$king size doesn't make them the same f%$king pieces, though.  The only piece that's the same between the stock GS and GSF assemblies are the carriers.  The stock rotors are different.  Being the same f%$king actual size it's not hard for ebc and galfer to make their own rotors and carriers identical.  No one said theiy're not interchangeable.  I said the stockers are different, and they are.

Also, the E and the F have different spring rates.  You might find this hard to grasp but, since they're assembled from different parts, they are, in fact, different assemblies.

As for the E vs F bullshit...a single numerical addition to a part number signifies an update or alteration in material.  Suzuki updated rotor materials starting around the turn of the century.  You'll see similar changes in every continuation model.

So let me get this straight, the carriers are the same correct?

The rotor itself is 310mm for both the GS500 and Bandit 1200 correct, which connects to the same carrier correct?
SO explain to me how this rotor is different, I just walked out to the garage and looked at both rotors for the GS500 and a Bandit 1200, there the same

Then yes for a f*cking particle purposes they are the same part.

Yes "technically" they have different part numbers, and yes they may even have slightly different materials uses but what does that matter?
Thats like saying the early katana rims and GS rims are different, because they have different part numbers, pull your head out of your ass

[EDIT]  The carriers are actually different, there cutout pattern is not the hole shape like the GS but have the same functional dimmension[/EDIT]

Mak may be correct for models prior to 2002, but the one I am looking at the parts look identical less the difference in the carrier

and this is why the part numbers are different......
different holes....
different color.....
different

but probably will work

I asked this just for entertainment.

I have no real use for this information.
