I found a 94 FZR600 pretty cheap. I'm thinking about it........ How much of a performance gain will this little shaZam! have over the GS. Also do you think it would look alright if i stripped off all those ghey plastics........................ I don't want a faired bike.........but I can convert it and it's cheap
I have a friend who used to ride mid 90 FZR600 and he loved it. Sold it only for a new Ducati Monster.
hey terry, if you get this, and you want to get rid of the gs lemme know, that is unless i get a cbr i was looking at first :thumb:
Actually i was kinda looking at this as an intermediary bike between the GS and the S4R I plan on this summer. But i plan on riding the FZR so i can completely rebuild the GS. I'd keep the GS for when GF wants to learn
DEFENTLY TEST RIDE IT
FZR's are know for 2 bad things:
1) breaking shift dogs...make sure 2and gear is nice and smooth..that will also tell you if the bike has been "abused"
2) Valves...if it dosn't start up immediatly be-prepared to either do a valve clearance check....FYI there's 16 valves and I think a shop would charge about $450 or so for a valve check...oooooo my biggest complaint is that yamaha valve pads are about the size of a pencil eraser but cost $15 each.....but most times if they arn't checked right on theie service limit then you'll have to pull the head and replace/machine the seats AKA-new top end build
Other than that I love my 92' FZR with stage 1 jetting bumped out 87bhp......or about 2x that of the GS...It really snaps in about 7-9500rmp's<<<that's my warning>>>>for that first time you hanker down on the throttle....It handles very very well, dual front brakes and part are easy to find all of the 89-99 except for the 91' & 92' had the front single headlight fairing... see my post 3 to 1 archive for what it looks like w/o the fairings
Yeah, I've been researching it, and the power is fairly impressive. Most things I've seen say with a stage 3 and good pipe, etc you can run about 100hp. the guy already warned me that it runs right with the new Gix6's..... I remember that post!!! I forgot that it was an FZR :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: Like i said I'll probably only ride it a few months and then turn it around when I get the monster :thumb: :thumb:
Yer a squid. :thumb:
Ehhh your only young and stupid once :dunno_white: I'll grow out of it one day but till then your gonna have to catch me :flipoff: i rode with a couple of guys today who were totally impressed with the GS :thumb: One offered to buy it when I move up ( wants it for his GF )
Then you go to being old & stupid.
yeah probably but I'll be old and stupid on one mean ass cruiser cause my back will be shot ( got my eye on a Custom 1600 HD chopper ) I'm gonna be an evil old person

Nope. They're not bad bikes (though their engine is a PITA to disassemble), but, riders equal, an FZR600 will absolutely not compete with new sixers.
I say depends on "new".....yea after the fuel injection 02+ I would say forget it.....~85bhp~ out of the Fzr 600 is still not to bad just about 40 ponies less than the competition....o way that's the power of the GS :o :icon_rolleyes:
my bad
Your forgetting that most of the Gix6's have brand new riders on them who dont have a f%$king clue what to do with that kind of power :thumb:
im 19 and a insuance company wouldnt touch me on anything with R in it lol , nothing 600 either , the gs is a good balance,
like proper cheap insuance , well , its 'STOCK' after all ;)
in the states actualaty a 19 year old is just as bad as seniors
Yup, My grandma is paying 2100 a year just for liability on her van :o I was paying a little less for my truck :o
I worked construction for a while as a roadway flagger..and an old lady hit me with her car....she stopped...no traffic was moving, i was standing directly in front of her car with my red flag up holding traffic..and she ran right into me..
Some old people are horrible drivers....I also almost died last year when an old guy in a white caddy almost rear ended me as I was waiting to turn left, luckily I noticed just in time and high tailed it out of there..thats the only time I've ever done a wheelie on public roads...I just wanted to get the hell out of there...
I was in the van with her the other day and she almost ran over a guy on an R6  She didn't think she did anything wrong  I tried explaining to her that bikes have the exact same rights as cars  She just blew me off   She's been having a lot of cognitive issues lately  The doc is about to send her to a home, thinks she has alzheimers  I'm not sure if it's that bad, but she needs to be off the road
If you talk to her doc about it, he can take away her right to drive. Often times its easier for a doctor to tell them, than to have a family member take it away.
Yeah I'm actually going to see him monday. I tried last week but he was in the Bahamas  But yeah i figured it would be a little better coming from a doctor and he can legally revoke her driving privilage  That incident the other day just set it off. she's gonna kill someone  She's developed a bad habit of turning completely around on the highway to read the billboards for the other direction :o I was riding next to her when she did this. I said f%$k that and rolled the throttle back. I'm not gonna be anywhere near her when she's driving :o
