Hey all im new here but I have read some of the post's and alot have helped me with my bike ...04 gs500f...and anyone who own's one of these great bikes knows there is not a great selection of aftermarket parts...one thing that I really wanted for my bike was a rear seat cowl and after hours of googlin it up NODDA so for those of you that are interested I decided to meet demand! anyway if anyone out there is interested in buying one. I will have pics posted, prob tommorow and you can send any questions to Superduperchris84@hotmail.com and i will follow up on this post. THANK YOU AND AS ALWAYS RIDE SAFE AND HAVE A GREAT DAY!!!
WELCOME!!!
I'm sure there will be a group here that will be interested. If I remember correctly, the "f" model tail started in '01 or '02. Hopefully someone can correct this info...
correct the 01 and up have the same tail section. and i would be interested in getting one for my 04, what would you make it out of and how would you secure it?
Hey thank's for the comment's guys.....The whole peice is made of fiber glass and the outer trim has a rubber lip to prevent any rubbing on the finish. To the next question there is a lip that fits under the seat to prevent it from moving unless you take the seat off first....This thing fits like a glove...Thank's guys and i will follow up with any questions any of you might have.
Get pictures up...
Would they be pre-painted...or would that be left up to the buyer?
Very cool. I want pictures. I already have one custom made by another member, but I want to see yours!
I also would like to see it Im very interested in getting one
That's been done.

2nd design coming soon
very cool. how's it work?
Thank's..... Pretty much you slide it on the seat and the lips lock it on.....so unless you unlock your seat and take it off it's not comin off
How about some pics where you can actually see the cowl ? :icon_mrgreen: Its a bit far away to see how it looks :thumb:
the only thing i would do if i had this is remove the back handle or do something so it looks as if the tail and cowl are one piece but then again it may look that way but from far i cant tell. But looks good i have the same biek and same color so im very interested.
you could get the same look by adding colored vynal to the seat, and still be able to ride a passenger
but it does look nice.
werase- do you have any pics of that bieng done?
Ya i realized you could do the vinyl....But im going for the SOLO seat look....Plus the vinyl just doesn't shine up as well :) thank's though

no,
If I want the solo tail look i'll install my Dgyver CARBON FIBER solo tail.... :flipoff:
just go to an upolstery shop and ask to get your seat recovered.....any stitching across the top will almost garantee water leakage into the seat foam
but if you want the look....experiment....it's only money, you will make more, what is the worst that could happen....you dont like it and you have the stock seat cover reinstalled?
should only cost 50-100 bucks....

Well that's fantastic that you have that and im sure it's pretty sweet ....BUT I WANT THE SOLO LOOK
hehe thr key word is LOOK i like it
Here's the solo seat look while still being a full seat.

looks a bit cheesy to me. IMHO
if you want the look...you'd do vinyl....
you made a solo seat....be proud
what are you going to charge for copies?
the masses will ask soon enuff
remember you are dealing with cheap a$$es
that will give many excuses why they won't buy it.
I'm cheap, but I drop money on my bike. The one reason I went with the cowl for my bike instead of a nice race tail from one of you gurus is the possibility that I may need to take someone 2up...
I cut my Buddha Loves You pegs off........

See.. I really, really, really want to do that, to streamline the rear of the bike, and to possibly allow for a highmount exhaust someday (Except that I lack the fabrication skills that you have)... But I've already been in 2 situations where I needed to carry someone 2up, since they had no other ride... Also, it's nice to be able to offer females a ride, if they want one, when they're sober, and have gear. If/when I upgrade, I'll probably chop the pegs on the GS.. I intend to keep it until it falls apart.
i agree .. i prefer the clip on seat cover . i'd much rather it have a bit high over the seat ( kinda like the GSXR ) that way you can stick stuff in there :) always a need for a good lookng trunk :P

lmao... I've had several girls ask for rides, but until recently, the bike hasn't been safe enough for me to risk another person's life (leaky/blown fork, chain about to fall off). Now that I have new front suspension, and a new chain/sprocket, I can give them those rides. However, I don't think a helmet is enough gear for a pillion. I have a spare jacket/gloves/helmet, so I make them wear them all, along with their thickest blue jeans and good sturdy boots (not stripper boots.. even though they're hot).. I guess I'm a geek, but whatever... my bike, my rules..
Ditto, I have a few "friends" taht are chicks and they own their own protecton (helmet/boots/gloves/jacket) now even though they dont own a bike, something about me preaching and imposing.. no armor, you can watch me ride around, but you can't ride with me.
works I guess.... lol
