You've made an excellent start with your thread here! You might do an advanced search just using the term 2000. It'll give you a lot of results, but you can narrow it down in different ways (such as searching the For Sale section....you might be able to see who's purchased 2000's). Also, keep an eye on members' .sigs, because that's where they often post info about their bikes, including the year!  :thumb:

Very few mechanical differences between al the models. What works on an 89 will probally work on the 07, carbs changed at one point but most of the info crosses over.

What do you want to know about the 2000?

Not much has changed with the GS over the years. 89-00, 01-02 and 04+ are the main years of change. Carbs, plastic, tanks, and color are about the extent of it.

Larger high compression pistons, high lift cams, ignition advancer, larger carbs, full & slip-on exhaust, K&N air filter, 4-valve head, dual plugs, GSXR USD forks, Katana forks, Bandit 400 4" & Katana 4.5" rear wheel, braided brake lines, rear sets, R1 & R6 brake lights, various tail swaps (Monster & R6 come to mind), GSXR/SV passenger peg mounts, dual headlights, .....the list goes on....

No idea about the Airtech stuff. Are they even made anymore?
I have only used clip-ons. They are an ergo thing, so it all depends on if you like the more aggressive position.

ya i believe you can still get it from airtech but i was looking at the bike today and where would you attach them to on the fork? and the original handle bars have the screw in thing on top of the triple tree..sorry if my english is bad im french

Do not worry, your English is better than most Americans.

They would either be mounted under the top triple clamp (which is under the handlebar mount) or raise the forks so they can be clamped above the triple tree.

oh ok, i thought about raising them but im 6"1 wouldnt the front end be a bit low for me, the forks arnt really that long?

I am 6'0" and have them above on my 97, but they are Katana forks. I will need to check if they are longer than the GS.

thanks is the frame and forks on 97 same as 2000? Also i was checking out your thread on project bike. How did you fit that swingarm on the frame. cuz i hate small tires on the rear and on mine its 130.

All years of the GS forks are dimensionally the same.

Just measured them...the Kat forks are 775mm long and the GS are 750mm. This is measured from the axle to the top of the tube, below the cap.

That is a stock swing arm on my 97 with Bandit 400 4" wheel. Relocated the brake caliper below which allowed for the clearance at the torque arm. I have a Bandit sprocket carrier, that I still need to install, which will give me the extra clearance at the chain so I do not need to shim the sprocket. Odd that the Bandit 400 hub is narrower than the GS eventhough it is wider.

Another option is the 4.5" Katana 98+ wheel. There is a write-up in the FAQ.
