Title: question about blowing fuses
Post by: heatherg11 on April 21, 2007, 06:50:08 AM
My roommate just bought a wrecked 01 ninja 250.  We were switching out parts, left handle control, tach/speedo. while in the process we blew a few fuses, a couple for the headlight and one at the starter solenoid. Now the bike will run just fine but the headlight doesn't work. It was working in low beam only but now it doesn't work at all. What do you think it could be. The parts she got was from a 93 and she put them on an 01.  The connectors are the same, but could that be the problem or could it be something else. I know its for a ninja, but I'm sure you guys can give me something.

If it is not the bulb or fuse, then something could be wrong with the switch. Any damage to it?

An earth fault will blow a fuse in an instant. I would be checking the insulation around the cables and looking for signs of chaffing against the frame. Around the headstock is a good place to start as the cables often flex and move against the frame in that area as you go from lock to lock.
