Title: Katana 600 shock installed, needs to be recharged?
Post by: villainy on April 23, 2007, 12:33:16 PM
Hi all, I installed a Kat 600 rear shock on my GS.  I like the way the tail is raised a bit, unfortunately since I hadn't ridden in a few months (and even then I just started and only have 500mi or so under me) I can't really tell if theres a big difference.  Anyway, sitting on the bike I feel like I am able to easily bounce the rear up and down a good bit.  Reading around I'm wondering if the shock needs to be recharged, is there a good way for me to test this?  Also it looks like recharging could run me $50+, so it would probably just be easier to find another Kat shock?  Let me know what you think, thanks everyone!

Did you adjust the spring preload? You can probally adjust that and it'll firm it up a bit.

I haven't ridden a kattana but I don't think anybody really raves about the suspension. It's only good when compared to the stock GS crap, so I wouldn't expect much improvement.

I'll have to check when I get home, I'm pretty sure its on 4 which I believe is the stock setting.  I'm assuming + is stiffer?  I'll give it a shot, thanks for the reply.

does it bounce like crazy...act like a spring...not a shock?
if yes, it's bad, buy another one....not able to service
