Title: CB650 - Is it as good a daily rider as the GS ?
Post by: ohgood on April 23, 2007, 05:47:49 PM
I've stumbled across what looks to be a good CB650 locally. One day this week I'll take a look at it. I know the CBs tend to be a little higher priced.

Are they considered as reliable as the GS ? Can I find parts ?

Thanks you closet honda guys.

The CB's are a little pricer because they're worth it.  As long as someone's changed the oil on occasion, having "cb" in front of a numeric pretty well means it'll last forever.

Honda still makes and carries parts for every bike they've ever made.

Yeap what Mak Said.Although the Later DOHC Models aren't as Desireable as the Earlier Pre 79 SOHC Models.I have a 78 CB750 F2 that I worked on for a While but the Carbs are Junk. The Pre 77 Carbs were a Lot better.

Friend of mine has a twin cam 750 and a single cam 750.  Out of the box the single cam was a real monster and was a lot more fun to ride...the twin cam was just too smooth and it seemed to be toned down, though in actuality it was more bike than the previous one.  Just wasn't as fun.  He took the twin cam apart and ported the head and put a smaller headgasket on her and now she sings and screams.  He's also got 44mm flatsides off Suzuki 750's on both and full Kerker exhausts.

As luck would have it, now there is a cb1100f available also.

Maybe those cb's only come out in the spring ? ;)

I think I'm going to buy one of them and put off getting a cage a little while.

Just about all the CBs are good bikes and have very few issues, if taken care of guys can get 100K without opening the engine (except for a clutch or two)  'course the GS can last that long too.
