Title: Mixture screw question
Post by: rusty_num2 on July 22, 2003, 04:08:59 AM
Which way is lean/rich when adjusting the mixture screws? Is there any way to remove the brass plugs without removing the carbs? I'm new to this whole bike engine stuff.

Thanks,
Brandon

I dont think you can remove the plugs on the bike (not enough workspace)  but if your going to pull off the carbs I'd say rejet it too. ($10)   have you read the howto on gstwins.com ??

http://www.gstwin.com/rejet.htm

the idle air screw is 10 on the rejet page.
but screwing it out is rich, screwing it in is lean.  If its stock it is going to be 1/2-1 turn out.

p.s. dont forget you have 2 carbs.  :thumb:

It isn't an air screw, it is a fuel screw. You do have the direction right, but if you understand it is controlling the fuel flow, it makes more sense.
