Okay - joined the group back in Feb when I bought my bike. It just sat there. And I just waited, read, and agonized. You see the MSF course was not starting until April. I sat on the bike, looked at it and on occassion I turned it on. MSF class was great. I was one of 10 students (average age was around 40). We all passed the written and all but one passed the practical. I got my certificate, went to the MVA the next day and got my motorcycle endorsement. Since then, that stupid smile just wont leave. I have taken the bike out and have navigated through my suburban neighborhood without issue. Each day I feel more and more confident. Each day the stupid smile gets broader.
So if any of you folks see some guy riding a 92 GS in the suburbs of D.C. with a grin that can be seen through my helmet - you will now understand.

Another mid-life crisis case here. Wish I had started much younger! I had scooters as a teenager, but didn't even DREAM of asking the parents if I could get a MC. The years passed one by one, and I always said I would get one, but I never did.
As 40 approached, I knew it was a "now or never" thing. Two good friends of mine had bikes and were always going on cool trips, so I finally took the MSF course and bought a bike. I know what you mean about the smile thing! :oD It fades a bit, but it's still there 2 1/2 yeas into my riding!
And don't feel bad about the mid-life crisis thing. I think your choice of bike shows you have a pretty level head. I worry about the guys out there who go straight to the Harley stealership and plunk down 20 big ones for a bike they can't handle just so they can open the garage door to show it off to the neighborhood. **They** are the mid-life crisis cases! You can see them at the Harley dealer every weekend buying more and more shirts and belt buckles and martini glasses with the HD logo on them.
Now go find a parking lot and practice your turning and braking!

It's the same as me...
I've always been a car guy since childhood,and been riding just scooters.
Bikes were not just for me, too fast, dangerous, and blah blah blah.
But something changed 2 1/2 yrs.ago when I got my bike license (I couldn't care less at that time, but my 250 cc scooter required it).
And then the bug came buzzing in my mind... "A bike?a REAL bike?...well...why not...maybe one day..."
One day I spotted this blue second-hand GS on sale...
"GS?!? What kind of bike is this?...though, seems nice...and besides,it's still a Suzuki...
Ok, I'll take it!"
Very very happy, I must say...I still remember how I smiled and laughed under my helmet the day I revved the thing up near redline in 3rd-4th gear... :icon_mrgreen: :icon_mrgreen: :icon_mrgreen:
As a result, everytime I can I go for a ride...I'm almost forgetting how to drive a car :icon_mrgreen:

I got my motorcycle at the perfect age: 29. Too young to be accused of having a midlife crisis, and too old to be a testosterone-filled kid.
I got my first road motorbike at 17 , a black and chrome cruiser *Kymco Zing* 125cc its was well nice , perfect to learn on 10k and throw the clutch out , wouldnt go up or nout , loverly little thing , then i got the taste , and went and got a Yamaha Tzr 125cc
Was Quicker and have a powervalve , mhm it was a kool little thing , then i was riding past a motorbike shop at 19 and saw this green/blue little looker, looked sort of like a bandit from where i was and i was like , i have to have that , went in there , and traded my tzr that i had bought for £800 ,* Many Miles Later* for £900 HAHAHA and payed him £100 Cash and I Was Now The Owner Of A 1996 gs500 , I Wasnt Old Enough To Own it , So I Didnt Have Any Insuance For The Ride Home *Stupid and Dangorous * but he just said , as far as i no , you Put it in a van , Then Just Feeling It rev and Pull Mhmm Fell In Love , Then Since Then , Ive Taken To Correct test , And have Insuarnce :D:D Im A Biker , My Stepdads A Biker, Since i Met Him He Has Had a Suzuki GSXR 1100 , Honda Fireblade 900 , Yamaha Thunderace 1000 , And Now The 1200 bandit ,* His Fav Was The Blade For Speed * So , Thats My Little Story , Im Glad I Started Young , But Well Done Dude!, You Got Away From The 4 Wheels And Made A Good Step!
