Riding to work this morning and BLAM!!!!!!!!!! Right above my right eye!!!!! POWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW
It made me jump!
I always ride with the shield up because I like to remember the days before the california helmet law and BLAMMO!!! After it killed itself on my forehead it slithered past my eye and I saw a bunch of legs before I shook it off. Had to wipe off the goo at the next light.... yuck....
You didn't literally jump off your bike, did you!?
Ah, I remember those days, out blow drying my hair after a shower...until some lady turned left in front of me...
Gross man! GROSS!
Hate when that happens!
I'm trying to eat lunch here! :P
Bet you'll ride with your visor down more often eh?
I am guessing it was one of those bugs from the planet Klendathu...for those that saw the movie Starship Troopers...Oh crap I am the only one...OK OK OK anything space related and I fall for it...Or never mind...my wife wanted to see it...
OK fine.
Cool.
Srinath.
If it were one of THOSE bugs, I don't think he'd be posting anywhere anymore...
:o
Doogie Howser MD, evil psyonic storm trooper

I was thinking the same thing, I just couldn't think of the name of the bugs. Klendathi? Klendathian? click click click?
You guys are a bunch of nerds ;)
Actually, I thought it was a cool movie. The CG bugs looked good and there was action and nudity and yes Doogie Howser. Once you have all that you do not need a story.
I would have prefered they did something that at least resembled Hinelin's book... :nono:

I agree, the powered armor suits, the lady captain's voice tellin' you to, "Have a nice drop". That's all I remember...

Or perhaps even Heinlen's book. :P
Well, at least it was just a bug and not a bolt or rock. Ride with your shield down, mmmkay?

My friends and I always root for the bugs but they never win
We all rented it while we were still owning at Starcraft and thought the bugs looked like the Zerg LOL
...back on topic... Ever since I had a giant bee bounce off my shield, I keep it down. Last thing I need is a bee flying around in my helmet trying to make me cry
I hear it really sucks when they get stuck in the collar of your jacket
If I ride with the shield down how am I supposed to taste the bugs?
:)
I don't like the shield down. It makes me feel a bit disconnected. I got special prescription glasses made that have sideguards and photo-synthe-however-you-call-it safety lenses. They look pretty stupid if I'm just wearing them, sorta terminator/happy days-ish like but hey - they're mucho functional and I don't have to have the darn shield down.

You eat wild bugs? :?
Too gamey for me, I always go for the store-bought kind, much more palatable.
i once had a butterfly get sucked on through the mouth level vent on my old helmet and i got purreed butterfly innards all over my face.
mmmmm... innards.
couple of weeks back I got hit by a bee at 30-40 mph.. so i know how it stings..
nevertheless I ride with the visor down these days.
that sounds like a cakewalk compared to getting stuck in what seemed like a monsoon coming off of lake michigan while riding down lake shore drive a few years ago in chicago. but yeah, the bugs definetly suck ! not so bad here in nc seeing as though we have to wear helmets here.
anyone try riding through the everglades? swamps and marshes? an endless cornacopia of chitonous/gelotonus gooey yet crunchy decoration on the Fly for mind body and depending on speed and clothing soul its truly amazing that even a human can smelll bug blood/guts in helmet 4 months afterwards, even after running a hose through it like filling a fishbowl.
Something with legs hit me in the forehead once....
But, it was my wife. :o
The book "Starship Troopers" is actually reccomended by the USMC as a book for recruits to read....Useless fact, Thank you...

Good move. It's hard to ride when you can't see. :thumb:
