Title: very conflicted
Post by: spc on April 29, 2007, 11:41:56 PM
The GF wants me to teach her to ride :o  ( like all by herself and shaZam!)
Aside from the obvious problem of me riding like a retard on acid, this kinda scares the shaZam! out of me.  She's not the best driver :icon_confused:  I don't want her or the baby G to get hurt :icon_confused:  I think I'm gonna tell her to take the MSF.  I don't want to be responsible for forgetting to tell her something that gets her hurt :icon_confused:

( Side Note:  she does pretty well on back, i just told her to move her body exactly like I move mine or we both die an incredibly painful death  )

aye the msf is a good start, and/or if she insists on YOU teaching her, ill ask her WTF are you f*****g crazy? jk  you can always "prep her" for teh msf by teaching her "clutch walking/rocking" and slow or non moving aspects of the msf :thumb:

True.......to date she's the only person crazy/dumb enough to ride with me    She's still a little traumatized from her knee touching the ground that one time :icon_confused:  I hear about it way too much   I'm gonna try to post a pic of what she did to her last truck all by herself......Single vehicle accident and she didn't hit anything........ somehow managed to cave in the roof and bend the frame :o   I think she learned her lesson, seems that 3 weeks in the hospital can help with that :icon_confused:  young and stupid, aw hell she's my perfect match

get her a cruiser, a GS makes a terrible first bike. $$$ plastic ... tanks that dent easy and worse yet, aren't available for sheiete ...
I'd get a 87-90 virago 535 take off the shell it has for a tank, take off side covers and the chromey crap and put duct tape on the T/Ses (GS ones will fit it in a pinch if they break) and teach on it. Its light but not bicycle light, its low and it carries its weight low.
Its torquey and its also easy to wrench on as a bonus.
Cool.
Srinath.

    I haven't had any problems with the old GS.........I even lowsided it at 40mph, picked it up dusted it off, checked it out and kept on going :thumb:  course it's got frames sliders and the paint is 1/4 inch thick truck bed liner  :thumb:  tank dents I just quicksteel a nail head to the center and bend the nail 90 degrees, use pliers to pop the dent and grind it smooth........   I'm thinking about stripping the tail plastics down and epoxying chicken wire to em then putting the truck bed liner back on.  Lot of work but it would be durable as hell :icon_twisted:

Hallelujah!!!  I knew it just couldn't be that good of an idea.  I'll have to find that and print it out to show to her O0 :thumb: :thumb:

That's part of what she did to her truck all by herself :icon_confused:

You should not teach her how to ride as her boyfriend; your opinion of how she rides may not be objective.  She should take the MSF.  You MAY tell her about the basics, like the clutch, brakes, throttle, and where they are.

And, don't be afraid that she may be a better rider than you.  I have met many females that can undoubtedly outride me, and now makes me wish I did teach my wife how to ride (I didn't because I thought she would be criticle about my riding, since we're both criticle about each other's driving).

She has most of the basic 'go and stop' concepts down :thumb:  she just needs someone to teach her the safely part :icon_rolleyes:  ughhhh, her parents are gonna f%$king shoot me if she gets a bike :icon_confused:  They hate the fact that I have one that she rides on occasionally
