OMG :o :o :o  No choke started right up once float bowls filled :o :o  Still have to get all the little adjustments right ( idle, throttle cable, etc......)  HOLY f%$k :o :o  I think I shaZam! myself when I revved it a little :o :o  The GS is not the same bike anymore :thumb: :thumb:  My neighbor came over because he thought I'd bought a chopper    Then I asked him if this sounded like a chopper and wound it up to about 9.5K :o   Loud begins to describe it but just barely :o :o

Yup I'm gonna be fiddling with it :icon_rolleyes:  It pops like hell when I snap the throttle shut and takes a minute to come back to idle.  The Wiki says it's lean the Suz Dealer says its rich :icon_confused: I say it's obnoxious   but it does respond WAY better :o :o :thumb: :thumb:

Deffinately sounds like a lean condition to me.  What jets are you fellas using?

WW, what are your thoughts on the full Jardine system?  I've yet to hear a review of the system from anyone who's opinion I trust.  I'd deffinately trust yours!

I've given occasional thought to a full system such as the Jardine.  I like the stainless header pipes, as I'm getting sick of painting mine, and I don't really like the black look.  I was just concerned about fit/finish, and since you are a perfectionist like myself, I figured you'd be a great source for an honest opinion.  Thanks! :thumb:  How does the can fit on to the rest of the exhaust?  Is it a slip-on or a flange style?

Thanks again for your opinion!

I googled "jardine gs500 exhaust" but found no useful pictures- one of them was my own bike. I could always take one if you're curious.

Nah, don't worry about it, I know the type well.  I just wondered if my Hindle can might bolt up to the system if it was a 3-bolt deal.

Thanks again!

Glad to hear it sounds good. Let me know when you get everything exactly right, so I know what settings to use on my bike. (Terry and I split a pair of gixxer wileycos on ebay)

It's not quite there yet but I'm at 3.75 turns out  And there's no hanging and just a little popping when I snap the throttle shut :thumb:  If I don't have it just right by monday afternoon I'm gonna take it to my local shop and have him get it down right :icon_confused:  If it gets that far I'll watch him and tell you what he did :thumb:

Pros:  Smoother acceleration all the way through the rpm range
Noticeably more get up and go :icon_twisted:
         Sounds mean as shaZam! :thumb:

Cons:  Loud as hell ( I come home in the middle of the night so this is a con for my neighbors )
Grabs LEO attention way more than stock :icon_confused:

I've got the Jardine system, and MrHyde has the V&H system. At idle, the V&H is louder, but when cruising or ham fisting the throttle, the Jardine is certianly louder. Though I am biased, I really like the sound the Jardine puts out: the note changes depending on what rpm you are in/going through. The V&H, on the other hand, just goes to a higher pitch.

Either which way, both exhuasts turn heads, especially when the two of us are riding together. The harmonic that the two pipes generate is nothing short of true ear candy.

When I came home I kept it under 4-5k and about half way just popped into neutral and shut it off :thumb:  The LEO at the inlet of my street almost crapped when he heard the difference  Of course that was about 5 PM and I let it run to about 9k

It looks as though you have the can mounted 120* off of where it should be? :dunno_white:

It looks good otherwise!

Yeah  Srinaths damn holes are drilled a little off :2guns: :2guns:  So I have the choice of straight up, turned out, or tire scorching    Thanks  So far I've had 3 people come up to me asking about it when I pull into parking lots in the last day :thumb: :thumb:

Sweet.. can't wait to get mine put on! I'm mounting mine so the stupid wileyco sticker is on the inside, if I can't get the sticker off.

I'm still debating on that damn sticker :icon_confused:  you kept the right hand side so mounting the can on the left hand side the sticker should be on the inside :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:  When ya getting yours on??   I set off my GF's car alarm when I revved a little next to it    I love the sound :thumb: :thumb:

I gotta wait until my lunchbox is delivered by the guy I bought it from. I would ask what jets you have, but I just realized you have the older, 2 circuit carbs, and I have the 3...

Cool........I think I'm almost done for a little while with upgrades   I just want to paint that back wheel and do something headlight wise :thumb: :thumb:  Although if JamesG puts out some Solo Tails soon I'm goin for that.............And I'm kinda looking for a spare engine to start working on................  I'm dumping way too much money into this bike      On the plus side some guy in parking lot told me he'd give me 2k for it :o :o  I told him i couldn't part with it right now :icon_rolleyes:
Hell that's about what I have invested so far :o

Yup I'm running 150's and 40 pilots :o :o  It's still rich so it's goin to my mechanic for final tuning tommorow......I hate messing with the air screws :icon_confused:  I'm afraid I'm gonna lean it out too much and f%$k something up when I let it WOT  in the middle of nowhere   :icon_rolleyes:

OMG!!!!!!!!  It did an acceleration wheelie :o :o  It wasn't very high but it was still one wheel up :o :o  I just gunned it and next thing I knew the front wheel was about 5-6 inches off the ground :o :o

dude - are you running 150's with a k&n drop in and slip on (reading from your posts here and your sig)?  if so, that sounds real rich - sounds closer to lunchbox/pods and full system.

Post by: spc on May 07, 2007, 08:58:08 PM
yup 150's   it's not all that rich :dunno_white:  It runs pretty damn solid now :thumb: :thumb   Pulls from about 4k all the way too about 10.5k :icon_twisted:
I'd rather be rich and waste gas than run lean and burn out a piston :dunno_white:
Title: Re: Dead Sexy

OK......everything is running smooth(er) now.....it's actually pretty solid, just a tad rich. Aside from getting the air screws right all the mechanic did was remove the washers that I just put under the needle    he said with jets that big all I'm doing is dumping a shaZam! ton of gas into it in the low end :thumb:  he told me to ride the 150's and if I get less than 50mpg hwy go down to 145 or 147.5 and it should get the mileage back to reasonable :thumb:  Filled it up today took just shy of 2 gallons and I've ridden about 90 miles in town :thumb:  So I think I'll probably keep it where it is :thumb: :thumb:
