hi I was wondering if anyone could help me out.
I recently needed to replace the gear selector rod and clutch plates. So I took the right side of the engine cover off, took the old clutch plates out and removed the whole hub thing (technical term I know) and pulled out the clutch rod.
I just pushed the new rod in, no hastle or major friction or anything. I got a little confused when it came to the at the bottom but it seemed to work find. I replaced the clutch plates and attached all the nuts bolts and screws. I have not put the oil it in yet.
Now when I tried to pull the clutch lever in I get nothing it is totally loose. It will not change gear or anything.
Any suggestion would be much appreciated.
hey im in glasgow aswell, i could maybe swing buy and have a look for you if you wernt to far.
Im in the process of changing my clutch just now aswell.
Things to check
1 - you joined the clutch cable back on at the engine end?
2 - you tightend up the 8 bolts that go inside the 8 springs?
cheers
Have you adjusted the pushrod ? (left side behind two screws)

+1.
I just did my clutch last week. when everything went back together, I got the same thing as what you described in the lever.
loosen the tension at the clutch lever, then adjust the pushrod.
here's how - unscrew the plate (2 philips). then take a 10mm socket and loose the lock nut. with a flat head, turn the screw to the right until it touches. do it a few times (left and right) until you get a good feel of where it touches. once your at the contact point, back it out 1/4 turn, then lock the nut with the socket and replace the cover. finally, adjust the lever slack to spec and you're good to go.
I had a good teacher walk me through the same thing (Bob B) so I can't take credit for the steps.
