Hey Everyone Just A Few Questions
1) When Im Reving , I Get A Whitish Smoke Coming Out The Exhaust , I Neva Noticed Before , And Today was really bad , its got a nexxus exhaust . and not been rejetted my guess is its running wrong
2) my chain is really loose, i put it on a wheel stand , and i was going thro the gears, and my chain has about 2 inch of slack, its really bad
3) i wired in my new light , and it works fine, but the high beam has sort of switch places , so high is nornal, and normal is high , really odd, oh and the button that makes them flash isnt seeming to work , very off indeed
and i put it back together today, and for some reason, at 3 k , it shot up , like it was hitting a power band *even no thats about 6.5 k ) damn rapid ,
Thanks Guys!!
Jay
i will try to help. most of my knowledge is cars not bikes.
1) are you sure it's white. white is usually coolant in the combustion chamber. may be a light blue? that is usually oil. bad rings or valve guides.
2) tighten it. you really need another person. it needs to be checked with you on it with out the center or kick stand down. i know there is a how-to on here somewhere.
3) did you wire it backwards. i know nothing about the 96 gs (mine is an 04). are they a sealed beam (replace the whole headlight) or composite (just replace the bulb, pops into back of headlight)? if it is sealed you could have it upside down. did that on my brothers truck. low pointed straight ahead and high pointed at the ground.
hope this helped but as i said i'm still new to bikes (i've only had mine 3 weeks and it is the first bike i've rode except my dads old 78 honda 400 and that was about 12 years ago)
1) if you have not rejetted then this might be the problem . was it kinda of cool out side ? if so that might have been it . i know every moring its cool here ( texas) you will get white smoke tell it warms up .
2) you dont need 2 people . some tell you to put it on the side stand i put mine on the center stand get it to where it only has about 1 1/2 in. of slack in it ( be sure to tighten it evenly i.e. if you make a half a turn on the right side make sure you do a half a turn on the left side ) once you take it off the center stand it should be about right.
3) check your wires you probly have somthing backwards and did not notice it :)
1. White smoke is condensed water evaporating off the exhaust. Has the weather been wet and/or cold? Also, rejet ASAP.. with a new, much freer flowing exhaust, you're running your already lean bike even leaner, and are risking serious damage to your valves/engine.
2. Tighten it, duh.
4. Are you saying the revs shot up for no reason while the bike was idling, or while you were riding? If it was at idle, chances are good that your choke cable is stuck, check it, and lube it.
