Title: GS missing reserve fuel hose
Post by: flyingmachine on May 08, 2007, 11:55:27 AM
Just realized my bike is missing the fuel hose for the reserve tank (from tank to fuel switch).  Can that be replaced with a generic fuel hose (ID and OD?) or is there some special kink  routing that needs a suzuki part?  thanks,

I replaced mine with fuel line from autozone.  No problems.  The stock stuff does have plastic inserts that keep it routed correctly but I haven't found it neccesary.

Is the reserve port capped or plugged?

Stock lines are 7mm ID, not a common size. Becareful if getting 1/4" ID rubber fuel line from an autoparts store. Make sure it does not have a very thick wall or you may have problems fitting them side by side on the tank petcock, but others have used it. I use 5/16" ID poly lines design for fuel use.

not plugged at the moment, I'll just ride the bike to autozone and fit it in the parking lot then.  thanks

The tank petcock shut-off controls both of the 2 outlets, reserve & normal, at the same time. If not plugged then it must be capped, same for the opposite. Otherwise fuel would flow freely.
