Title: Can I throw 01+ tank and plastics on my 94?
Post by: Topher P on May 08, 2007, 07:50:21 PM
Just as she says boys, I know the 01+ bikes sit a little taller due to the seat, and as well the tank is a little bigger.

Can I just slap them on, will all the mounting holes line up?

As well, I imagine with the 01+ seat i would need the 01+ tail plastics as well?

Well thats awfully helpful, I recieved way beter responses wen i was on this board years ago.

Anyways, I'm thinking that the main culprit will just be the mounting holes, easily modified or welded on?

Look at that other post that says "will it fit".
Cool.

You can throw them on, but they will most likely fall off.  All jokes aside, it does require modification to the subframe to fit the seat and rear plastics. Run a search, I would take the time to answer, but there is a post with pics of what someone did t their subframe, I think it would be more hep than I could provide.

No.

actually this is the correct answer to can I just slap it on.....?

after 300 what tar? widest tar?   what turn signals? what jetting? ......for my bike
people get tired of typing.

and really want others to actually use the search feature or the wiki...or pablo's site.....

I think Dgyver used bolt on brackets for everything....i probably am wrong

Almost anything will fit if YOU make the brackets.....

^^^ Short Answer ^^^

Slightly longer answer:  With modification to the existing frame.

You will need the tank, seat, tail plastics, brake light, a welder and fabricate brackets.

The 10 mounting points for the 01+ seat & plastics are different.
You can make it work with some creativity, as I have a '97 with 05 tank & 04 tail plastics where I cut the mounts from a 05 frame.
The brake light bracket needs to be modified also.

Here is a pic of my 97....

Ha ha Dgyver ... if you dont mod it much ... just like bend it in place etc ... it will sit in so flush with the tail section its much better than stock. best part about fitting 01+ tail on 89-00 bike.
Cool.
