Title: About as done as she gets...a makzuki classic:
Post by: makenzie71 on May 09, 2007, 03:13:17 AM
started out with: http://photoartclub.net/gl1000/DSC02038.JPG (big pic)

Found under a pile of garbage in my neighbor's shot and bartered it out from under the filth.  Brought it home, cleaned up the carbs, put a good battery on her, and here's what we got:

Also added along the way are:

310mm and 2-piston caliper
Stainless front line
1/2" Tokico master cylinder
Preload adjusters (well kinda..gonna rebuild the forks before I bother installing them)
Full one-off exhaust (now for sale)
Uni-Filters
Rebuilt carbs with 130/78's.
10mm ground set
54 zip ties

I still need to ditch the front signals and get a better headlight...next project...and a new bird plate.  f%$king birds...it's only been on the bike for a few days and I've already used it twice...

Looks good Mak... You have an awful lot of tarmac to play around on there by the looks of things.

Is that a puddle of oil under it?  Was that an unfortunate parking job or does that thing piss oil?

Pretty good looking considering what it looked like when you found it...  You should cut that seat down to a single.  :thumb:

it's water...apparently when you wash these things, water pools on top of the engine and under the fuel cap cover.  When I put it on the side stand it basically pissed all over the place.

If I cut the seat down I can't carry a passenger...plus there's nothing under the seat.  I'd have to find a cafe tail or something.

???  That seat must be different than the seat on my buddy's H#nda...  His has like 6" of foam...  I told him to get a carving knife and have a field day with it......

Lower bars and a Cafe seat would be cool...  But, it would kinda ruin the point of that bike.

most shaft drivers are integrated into the swingarms.

ive seen many that werent, hence my comment, but nice job anyhoo, btw are you staying with that exhaust or going elsewhere with it ( ie something else?)

I have never seen a shaft drive bike that didn't have the shaft integrated into the swingarm.  Care to share what models you've seen?  My curiosity is piqued because I just don't think it would work as well, if at all.

That's the exhaust that's staying on her...sans the tips.  She gets new tips.  I may rebuild it later with better materials but it'll be the same design.
