So what does it wanna be when it grows up.
a mini
Wow... Ummm... Recaro seats in a metro? ??? What is this all about?
Now... if it really had the Police interceptor engine in it.. That would be something :thumb:

The new paint looks just like the old paint... :icon_confused:
You should paint most of it white, but with a yellow circle in the middle of the roof.
Eggmobile!
I do have to say.. probably looks better than any geo metro I have ever seen :thumb:
:icon_mrgreen:
it's my cheap a$$ hooptie.....fill the tank every 2 weeks or so....
the engine is a zuki!!!!!!
1000 cc
55 squirrel power or so
i'm up to 27k now.....
cost less than one hybrid payment :flipoff:
friend asked me to put a price on it......
I told him no.... I wouldn't take 3 k for it.... i don't know what i would take.....
he said if I would have put 3k on it...it would be his in 30 min.
My Mother actually had a Suzuki Swift when she first moved to her new house so she had something more fuel efficient for the much longer commute than her Navigator . I'll admit to bashing it when i first saw it ... it looked silly next to that big ol' Lincoln in the driveway , and it was far too easy for me and my brother to pick up the front end and move it around to confuse her in the mornings :icon_twisted: She told me i'd be suprised at the performance , and that it had the 4 cylinder as opposed to the 3 cylinder that that year Metro had in it . I ended up borrowing it for a couple days while we crammed a Jetta engine into my VW Fox , and much to my suprise it accelerated better than my VW ever did up until about 80mph . I was already used to small fast cars with tight steering , but I never expected it to go as quick as it did . I used it to smoke my brother from a standing start while he was driving his Grand Am . I'm kind of keeping an eye out for one with low miles (the acceleration goes bye-bye after it's been run hard for a couple thousand miles , or when they get over 50k miles on the odometer) to have something to play around with .
It's nice to see someone else appreciate the little buggers too , as well as put some time and effort into making something of it . It's not suprising to find it from someone on these boards though ... i think the GS is way under-appreciated by most people too . Little do they know :flipoff:

The engine block on those is *literally* the size of a loaf of bread. 3 cylinders of fury!
Reminds me of an internet legend:

There's a 4-banger? Do you need an SCCA license to purchase?
-Turd.
Looks pretty nice. Well you have the skills and willingness to work on a car and make it good, that's worth about $20k at least.
spiffy. I still want a storm.
i had a 95 ( new body style, choice of engines, a 1Litre 4 cyl or a slightly smaller 3 cyl ( turn teh radio and ac off and i could get 74 mph going downhill on the interstate
It is like the quest for HP...
I want 50 MPG
i've gotten close.....
the new tars are a bit taller but also a bit wider....
keep them at 45psi for trips
driving style.....for max mpg...takes about 45 seconds to get up to speed
I got one of them 1970's fuel economy gauges....VAC GA
it's a rolling experiment like the rest of my life......
1.6L VW diesel. 70MPG no problem in a VW Rabbit. Maybe a little more in the 'zuki.
Now I have an idea...
The stock Swift weighs in at roughly 700kg after you remove all the interior crap. A hayabusa will make 180 hp. That's 8.5 lbs per HP, more or less in line with a '07 vette.
The kids with their Mustangs and Camaros would never figure it out. The old guys with their vettes would be certain never to race the little blue breadbox again.

I LIKE IT!
If I were to build a sleeper car it would be a Citroen 2CV with a turbo Hayabusa engine. The 2CV was originally powered by a 28HP knockoff of a BMW Motorrad horizontally opposed twin. Stock weight was 1,100 lbs. My aunt had one until just a few years ago. It had "zip up" windows and two big dasies painted on the front doors.

I love your aunt! That is so cool.
I once saw a 60s Bug with a Chevy 350 in it... From the outside it looked almost stock... But, the rear tires were way wider than stock......
I think a junked out Geo would be the ultimate sleeper car......... No one would suspect that anyone would be silly enough to put money into it.
give me those recaros. NOW!

thats only scratching the surface of the crazy shaZam! theyve done.
Yeah I remember the one where they raced a Duc 99X and a Lambo Gallardo :o 15k bike vs. 300k car And the winner is........ 15k Bike :thumb: :thumb:
wasnt that only a 1/4 mile run tho?
Nope it was a full track :thumb: :thumb: The Duc shaves over a second from the Lambo on 0-60 and on the track it still had about a 1/4 second lead :thumb: :icon_twisted: :icon_twisted: :icon_twisted: And thats and old 99X i wanna see the Desmo RR against a Lambo :icon_twisted: :icon_twisted: 200+ hp sub 400lb bike the hp per ton works out to like 3x the Lambo's :icon_twisted: :icon_twisted: Course that ones price tag is gonna be 40k I think :o
I liked the episode about what it takes to destroy a 911. It pained me to watch them do it but still fun none the less

You are joking right? The aircooled 911 is the greatest all around sportscar ever made... EVER. Take one heated ride in a 1997 Turbo 3.6 or a leisurely drive in a 1996 Targa and you'll know right away why they say

I think it was in this topic that someone posted about the Smartcar with the Suzuki engine in it ... I was poking around youtube for Suzuki stuff and found a video of one ... OMG it looks like fun :o

So now you just need to find a wrecked 'busa hehe ... the seller will flip when you tell him it's for your metro :thumb:

no way, clarkson is right,
the engine is in the wrong place.
the cayman is a much better car then the 911, because the engine is in the right place.
but it was designed by bueracrats instead of engineers, and it was de-tuned so it wouldnt dethrone the 40 year old horrible designed engine in the wrong place 911..
About five or six years ago there was an article in sport compact car.... It was called "fastiva"
It was a ford festiva (maza 131) with a mercury capri xr2 turbo motor (mazda gtx) bolted into it...
In the article the owner said he took it to a dragstrip and pretty much go laughed out of the tech inspection... Lined it up against a roadrunner and gave everyone a lesson in power to weight ratios...
speaking of metros. a guy here in town had a 3cyl metro. painted it pink, put on a big a$$ wing and side pipes off a corvette. looked wierd as hell. wish i had a pic. ended up selling it and buying an 02 roush stage 1 stang.

I'll give you that the Cayman is a great car, but I'm talking air cooled 911/Carreras. they're incredible sportscars. It has been written numerous times that the 911 is the greatest example of a terrible idea (rear engine RWD) beautifully executed due to fantastic engineering. There were rough spots in the 911's history, I'll give you that, but they truly are incredible sportscars. Not to say that the Cayman isn't a better car, I agree 100% that the Cayman is better than a 996/997, but it doesn't hold a candle to the 993. Do some reading on the subject and actually drive one before you cast off the air cooled 911s, you'll be surprised at what they can do and the amount of time that was invested in them to make them fantastic cars, they certainly weren't built by bureaucrats, that's just nonsense.

i just hate the fact that they intentionally de-tuned the cayman so it wouldnt dethrone the 911. that is the work of buisnesspeople, not car people.
with a proper motor the cayman could destroy the 911 in every category.
yes, it is impressive that after 40 years of trying they got it right with the 911, even though it is conceptually wrong.
I just wish they could move past it. just like i wish GM could move past badge engineering.
for my money ill take a corvette. comperable performance, for half the price. and i dont care that the interior is made of old cavalier parts held together by chewing gum, i still think corvettes just look awsome.
gotta get a C5 though. sports cars have pop up headlights. that is just how it is done. what the hell were they thinking changing that?
agreed, 911,s are the shaZam! to drive, teh vettes are fun as well

Hahaha, I hear ya. Best bang for your buck in the sportscar catagory would probably be the 2002+ Z06, 405+ HP out of a relatively lightweight car that's only running 2 seconds slower than my 150hp motorcycle in the 1/4 mile... amazing.
