So I got the K&N 'Lunchbox', 140 mains, and threw them in my bike this morning with an adjustable wrench and a couple of screwdrivers (anyone seen my metric sockets?....). Anyway, from the time I pulled her outta the garage to start working til the time I was test riding was about an hour exactly. So I imagine if you're more organized than I am and have a decent place to work you could do it in considerably less. Anyway, bike runs great, sounds much cooler than it did. I'm running 140 mains, 1 washer (I think, didn't check), 2.5 turns out mix screw. I love this bike more every time I tinker. Once I get the 44t. rear sprocket that's on back order, I think I'll have my dream machine (Until I can afford a new SV650 :icon_lol:)
Thanks again to this site for all the help, hope this helps someone else who's thinking about doing the same...cheap, easy power...what more could ya want?....
Ohbytheway, when I took out my old airbox, I found squirrells had filled it about half way with dog food they'd been smuggling out of my house. So the whole time I had a lunchbox on there already and didn't know it!!!!!

LOL. classic. I had similar thing where mice smuggled various nuts into my airfilter this past winter... Made such a mess.
Man, everyone has so much trouble with the bowl screws. All 8 of mine came out with no fuss.

We had an old beater car in high school auto shop that had been sitting in a field for 2 years. It STUNK inside there and I knew there was something dead in it. We tossed in a new battery and as soon as I turned on the vent blower I found where the dead mice were... Yuk. Dead mice do a number on plastic blower blades :o

What are you referring to by "bowl screws"? You mean to actually take the bowls off to access the jets? Mine came out easy. I rejetted when I first bought it, so I'd had them out before, but I'm third owner and everything came apart easy. ???? :dunno_white:
Maybe I just got lucky...
5 of mine came out easy, I had to drill the other 3
I stripped almost all screws at the start. Then i took a metal saw and did good grooves in them. And opened with flat screwdriver putting half of my weight on it.
don't trust those damned squirrels, they're 3v1l i tell ya.
