Title: Cage Tire puncture repair
Post by: manofthefield on May 14, 2007, 01:33:30 PM
I got a nail in my cage's tire.  Is a DIY repair kit ok or should I have a shop do it?  My thought on the shop doing it is they can take the tire off the rim and repair from the inside which may be better. :dunno_white:

But if I can do it myself and it's almost as good, I'd prefer to do that cause it's cheaper and I prefer doing things myself. (that way I know exactly what's been done and how well)  The tires need to be replaced anyway, but I'm between jobs and don't have the cash to buy new ones right now.  But this isn't a looong term fix, they will be replaced withing a few months

I would just take it to a shop and have them patch it.  The patch goes through the inside and is much better than the DIY kits.  Plus most places only charge around $20 bucks for a patch.

I just tried at Discount tire... they do it for free!  But their rules won't let them touch it, my tires are too worn   So the default is a tire repair kit :icon_rolleyes:

well, yeah, the last time i had a tire patched it was on the car so that is the on the car price.  I think it was actually 15 bucks.  Nowhere will do it for free around here unless you have a road hazzard warranty on your tires when you bought them.....
