Title: tachometer light?
Post by: bluelespaul on May 16, 2007, 04:20:27 PM
well the other day i had to work a little later then i thought i would have and ended up having to ride the GS home. as soon as i got on i noticed the tach wasn't lit up. does the GS tach not have a light all together or do i have a burnt bulb?

Your bulb is burnt out. I had to replace mine a few weeks ago.

I use a #194 bulb from the auto part stores for the instrument and indicator lights.

Take the 2 small acorn nuts off the bottom of the housing and lift the tach out and unplug the bulb socket to change.  For the speedo you have to remove the reset wheel with a small jewelers phillips screwdriver first.

Welcome to the club
I had to change both the tachometer and the speedo bulbs, they burnt out in a matter of days as soon as I had purchased my GS.
Not difficult to change them, I found explanations on this forum...Just do a little search, I'd explain it to you but I'm not so skilled at technical terms since English's not my native language ;) ;)

Lamps and ride safe!!
