Check out this site from the FAQ section.  It'll tell you what other people have used with different mods/jets to get the best performance from thier gs500e's.

Or check out Mike's page with pretty much the same information plus a little walk through of the process it you are mechanically inclined enough to do it yourself.

A lot of this is consolidated on the wiki:

I'm guessing you mean a 115 main jet?  That's pretty small, and is smaller than stock, even.  Are you sure it's 115?  Can't imagine why that would be in the bike.  You can improve the bike with the right jets (on the above pages), without having to install a new air filter.

European bikes come with 115 Main jets. This is for emmision control. My bike came with 115 too and it is a 02' model. Poor thing was all white on valves and spark plugs.

Shenobi you can safely put standard jets for that year, it should be 125 i think, maybe anyone with that model can tell for sure. It will sure be healthier for your bike and feel a little stronger.

If you do any air filter or exhaust mods, you will need to go higher.

Wow, I thought the Euro-spec bikes came jetted properly.  Too bad.

+1 on what domas said.

I Dont Think Mines Got Such A Tiny 115, My Plugs Are Fine , Then Again , Mine Was Second Hand, And Is Reallly Quick For Some Reason , From About 3,000 It Starts Flying Up

I'm still on a freakin cloud cause she'll do acceleration wheelies now :icon_mrgreen: :icon_mrgreen: :icon_mrgreen: :o :o :o

115 is seriously small :o :o
Figure out what mods you want to do and can do in the very near future then hit the jet matrix to figure out what jets you will need.  No sense in re-jetting a million times

I was wondering if there was a connection there.  I guess that would be one way to do it :dunno_white: :dunno_white:  I figured it was probably a block right past the butterfly valves :thumb: :thumb:

Some countries has a solid spacer hanging down from the plastic tops so the slide wont lift past 3/4 or some like that. Anyway, some european contries and Canada came with the right jets. I wanna say German spec bikes through 96. But Canadian were all 40/125's. I just figured canada was the least restrictive place on earth. Parts of europe too, including adjustable needles on the british bikes atleast. No idea why they jet them so lean in a super hot country where gas is probably not too $$$ either, I dont think it does a whole lot for emmissions cos emmissions are at low rpm at high rpm the damn thing will be spraying liquid oil out the pipe. That was how loose the tolerances were. And they jet it leaner than Hillary Duff.
Cool.
