So I got pulled over the other day because my tail lights weren't working. No ticket, but what happened is that the light bulbs had vibrated out or had otherwise come loose from the housing and were sitting outside of their holes so that no light was visible. I never ride at night, but thats still pretty dangerous so make sure to check your lights and signals often!
Before moving out I usually, twist around in my seat and put a hand back there so I can see if there is a change in the lighting on my hand when I either press or pull either brake lever.
At least we have two bulbs so even if one goes out we're okay. Some older bikes with a single bulb are much more dangerous and you should always carry a spare bulb at night.
I've had bulbs fall out but only one at a time, :thumb:
I had the same thing happen once. It wasn't a cop but a fellow biker :icon_mrgreen: I went home took a look and smeared blue loctite all over :thumb:

+1
Just out of habit I check the signals, brake and headlight just about everytime I start the bike :thumb:
Once i was riding down a very dark road , in the middle of nowhere , and this person in a car keepy flashing me down , and he wouldnt stop , and like the feeling of like urban legand , and all that , i was like damn ,im in the middle of no where ,and he wants something , so i stopped and pulled out my trusty socket wrench , and walked over to the car, and he just sed , oh ur tail lights not working , and drove off , and , wow what a dude lol , it was on my kymco , so i disconnected my rear break light off my pedal and held it down with a paperclip,l so my break light was on the whole time , just for the ride home ,
lucky i suppose
After starting up and waiting on the choke is a good time to check lights. CHECK YOUR HORN TOO.
Of course you've already checked your:
tire preasure
tires for nails
chain
brake calipers
brake action
clutch action
engine oil
mirrors
gear
you know the rest

since I think the safety inspection in my state is a joke
I perform a safety inspection before i ride
