Hello,
My bike isn't running quite right. Here are the symptoms:
1. Very little power at low RPM
2. Power comes on all of as sudden at a higher RPM. Not sure exactly
where, maybe around 3K-4K.
3. It sputters and hesitates at lower RPMs. Especially when cold.
4. I think it only runs on one cylinder when cold. The right side of
the engine block takes much longer to heat up then the left.
5. There is smoke in the exhaust when cold.
6. The idle is sometimes OK (~1300RPM) but sometimes, especially when
hot, it creeps up to between 3K-6K. When it creeps up it's not
steady, but wanders around.
7. Turning on the choke when the bike is idling high will increase the RPM.
8. The left spark plug looks ok but the right one is wet.
I tried putting carb cleaner in the gas. I also sprayed some WD40 in
the cabs and moved the slide up and down in case there was any gunk
cloging it up. These things only seemed to make it worse.
My best guess is that right side is running very rich. Does that
sound reasonalbe?
I think the next thing I'll do now is pick up a rebuild kit,
disasemble and clean the carbs.
Any suggestions?
Mike
I suggest...
2-3 cans of carb cleaner.....the cheap stuff from oreiley's with a little black cap
NOT THE EXPENSIVE STUFF
cheap stuff has better good...bad chemicals in it
are you sure that the right side is firing? Ever had the carbs apart? Check for the small (<pencil eraser sized) o-ring under the round black plastic caps on the top of the carb -- some of your problem sounds like a vacuum leak.... it's worth it to check the carb Syncronization as well.
First thing first - lay the plugs (still connected to wires) on any metal surface on the bike and crank the starter - make sure you have spark and go from there.
Poor running below 3k, in my experiences, has been issues with float height and fuel-screw settings by each float.
lots to check out
i tested my spark plug , when i noitced my left side wasnt firing , and it shocked me so hard it cut my bikes electrics , and gave my heart a shot lol
was well wierd
