Ehhh.....I figured why not.  Cheaper than an SV headlight and has a little more of a streetfighter look :dunno_white: :dunno_white:

Hmm...  I'm not sure what I think about that one...  Post some pics of it when you get it on.

Yeah I was already thinking about how I could change those out to something a little brighter :thumb: :thumb:  I got the black one but I'll probably lay some truck bed liner on it anyway
Was also thinking about rewiring to have the outside/turn signal lights on all the time........Georgia doesn't much give a shaZam! about em as long as you signal in some form :thumb: ( I don't have any on there right now )

These Stupid English Laws , mean I Have to all 4 , so i cut , and painted the stock clock mount , its not written what they are , but lets me fair , who doesnt no them , do u guys get a Mot . which is basicly , a inspection of your bike , and it has to conform to a certain list of rules and regulations , stupid really

lol
Title: Re: The price was right
Post by: spc on May 22, 2007, 01:17:04 AM
Some states have an inspection/certification but we don't in Georgia.......that's how I'm getting away with no turn signals so easily

I Was Born  In The Wrong Country , Hence basicly , I Have to make sure its all good , like everything has to be Spot on , really annoying, i have to buy tax., thats 55 pounds a Year , the mot is 42 pounds , weather it passes or not , Weak , Insuance is 500 Pounds, so thats what 600 quid just to have it on the road,

WEAK!!
Title: Re: The price was right
Post by: spc on May 22, 2007, 01:24:21 AM
32 USD for registration and tag ( goes to like 16 yearly now )
118 USD for insurance (legal minimum except for the most UM available)
That's it

150 a year......converts to about 80 pounds

bringing the GS :o :o :o Man that won't be cheap :o :o  I haven't lost any friends to bikes yet, and I hope it stays that way.   Rich's story really is sad though.  At least he went doing something he loved.
Title: Re: The price was right
Post by: Jay_wolf on May 22, 2007, 01:42:17 AM
It Wont Be Cheap .but i look at it this way , the reason my gs is gonna be so pimp is because of this forum , ive learnt so much , and had the confidence to do loads of stuff on my bike , and i think , id like 2 show that his words and anyone else on here that everyone put something into it ,

yea Ive Lost 3 , One Had A Epicletic fit and fell off and died ,
another had knobby tires and come off in the wet into a post , was braindead , turned off the machine after a week

3 rd was a ex girlfriends uncle , got rear ended at a stop and died instantly .

also my dad was knocked off his moped when i was 2 ,

Bikes are in my blood , i sit in a car , and feel bored and its not for me , all about 2 wheels , it doesnt scare me , but this events are very unlucky ,

Just I dont mean to sound disrespectful but , i dont no , They was accidents , they shouldnt of happened , but they did

Its sad to lose someone close to you

i just bought one of thoes heahlights.
It took them 10 days to ship it...  Thats because they send it to you right from the factory line..Some little korean kid even signs his name on the packaging slip..

There were a few things i was worried aout when i did get it.   They do send you mounting brackets with it that slide onto the forks.  But the gs stock ones look like they will work you just have to flip them around.  One down side to these is that they are all plastic.  The mounting tabs included. so be careful with that.  But all in all it looks nice on the bike it even fits over the gauges just right..   You just have to get brighter lights.

Well they shipped in 2 days for me :thumb:  I checked the tracking number, it should be here wednesday :thumb:  I'm not sure exactly how I'll mount it, seeing as my current headlight mounts are just thrown together

What type of bulbs do they use?H-4?Will a brighter hotter bulb melt the plastic housing?

Inquiring minds want to know.

Yeah I want to do something about my taillights.  I think I'm gonna wait til JamesG makes some tails and try to work something lut with some of the Universal LED ones that are always on Ebay.  their ovals about 4" long by 1" high.  I was thinking do a little extra glassin on the tail to point it off really sharp and do two of em side by side long ways

I was just looking at all those lights and I really liked the look of the Demon fairing as well as the Acerbis Cyclops. I got a crashed CBR1000F and want to put something on there a little better than the 4" single beam that the previous owner put on there.

I was wondering about the quality of the part as well as the brightness of the bulbs and what type of bulbs they had in them so I called up both Fly N Cycle ans well as www.motostrano-store.com (they don't carry the Demon but they do cary the full line of Acerbis lights)  and talked to the techs about their suitability.

The tech at Fly N Cycle said that most of the lights they sell like the Demon, Dash, and the MotoX are meant for dirtbikes that only see ocasional night use at low speeds. The Demon used a P15 style bulb which I don't think is available in really high wattages and the tech said that if you could stick a brighter bulb in there it would probally melt the unit. He recomended the Dominator or the universal 7" light (just like the stock GS) for frequent high speed night use (both use a H4).

The tech at www.motostrano-store.com said that the Cyclops is great for night use and he said that he personally has it on a Ninja and it works great plus it's one of the few aftermarket lights that's actually DOT approved so there shouldn't be any hassles if your bike needs to be inspected. He also said that he found the 55w low beam and the 55w high beam to offer plenty or light, but that it uses a H3 bulb which can be found at any auto parts store in 55w or 100w

He also said that most of the other Acerbis lights are mostly for dirtbikes with low output alternators and they are for infrequent night use at low speeds.

I ended up ordering the Acerbis Cyclops and it was $107 or so including shipping, which isn't that much more than the Demon plus you don't need to bother with getting the right bulbs for it.

I'm interested in how the light actually works for you though and how it looks. Post some pictures when you get it and I'll try to do the same.

I said I was concerned about the quality and brightness of some of the lower priced headlights that this thread was started about. Hoping to get some feedback on some of the headlights out there.

Hey.My R1 tail light arrived this morning. It's a 2000-01 clear tail light with red inserts,
made by Clear Alternatives. It is a good quality light and I only gave $30US for it on Ebay.
I had to thread the mounting holes, and trim a little tab off of the bulb sockets on the
bike.I had some stainless fine thread screws and they worked great.I started this morning
taking ever thing apart so I could make some tank spacers. My rubber mounts were shot.
It took me about 2 and a half hours to strip the bike down, cut the spacers, talk to the
delivery lady(OOOLALA),fit the light, and put it all back together again.Works like a dream.
The reason why it took me so long is because i had to flirt with the delivery lady, and check
the fit of the tank. The light by itself should take only a half an hour.

Here is the tools I used.
flat and phillips screw drivers
6mm allen wrench
10mm and 12mm sockets
rachet and 6 inch extention
1 inch tubing cutter(for cutting tank spacers out of 3/4 sch40 pvc pipe
razor knife/utility knife for trimming the tabs on the light sockets
