So, me and the wife road the GS yesterday. Between us we are packing around 330lbs on the bike (needless to say she wont tell me her weight, so I am guessing. Witholding my guess from her, because I tend to enjoy those marital relations hehe) It was sluggish, of course, but my question is, am I over doing it, or is this ok (as long as I can cope with the slug)?
Not at all, the GS will carry over 400# safely. Just increase the rear tire pressure a bit to the 2 up rating and crank up the rear suspension preload setting if your bottoming out in back. I weigh about 250# myself so my GS thinks it's carring double all the time. :laugh:
I've had a little over 300lbs on mine without any problems. I did notice it was a little slower off the line but other than that she did good :D
I weigh 205 and my GF is about 105, the GS hauls us with no problems :thumb:
Appreciate it fellas!
Yeah I've ridden with a passenger several times without problems and I weigh 200 so with both of us we were plobally pushing 340 or so.
It sucked braking while going downhil on a rough road, the forks were getting ponded with the weak little springs. If you ride two up often a bigger bike would be more comfortable but the GS can do it. I'd definatly recomend replacing the stock front springs though.
I'm 330 by myself. So yes, the GS can handle it just fine. :laugh:
Mine will do 400 lbs ok, but them again i ride with the rear suspention preload on 7 and .85 racetecks in the front.
ya, me an the missus total about 320 and our GS doesn't really care.
preload = 7
tires = upped to 2 up preasures
brakes = pay attention and anticipate unexpected weight shifts!
I can't wait to try 2up with my new Supa Dupa Bob-Does-It advancer for lower revs. (THanks again Bob!)

Dude, i weigh in at 300 even, my girl at 140. The GS runs around the NC mountains like a bat outta hell. so thats 440lbs, you should be fine.
