Title: Gas leak... again
Post by: LostDog on May 23, 2007, 07:35:15 PM
While I was out of town last weekend my bike leak a full 4 gallons on the floor of my garage.

A while back, my bike leaked in the garage at work after the plastic fuel filter cracked. So, I replaced all the lines with 5/16 hose, new hose clamps, and a new fuel petcock off a CR450 eliminating the vacuum hose. After all that, it leaked again.

This time it came out between the hoses and the tank petcock.
Should I order Suzuki 7mm hoses?
Should I just put tighter hose clamps on?
Also, my garage wreaks of gas. Any ideas to clean that up?
:dunno_white:
Thanks in advance.

What kind of 5/16" fuel line did you use? Was it the black rubber thick walled stuff from auto parts stores?

Exactly.

I know some have used that type without problems. My thought is that it is too stiff to be able to compress enough to make a good seal.

I have used thin walled 5/16 poly fuel line for years without any problems.

Yea, I used 1/4" Tygon stuff.  It works great.
