Title: Tire question?
Post by: chris5150 on May 24, 2007, 06:02:01 AM
i am looking at replacing the tires that were on my bike when i got it.

i wanted to know if any one knows anything about these tires.
i have been seeing them for sale all over the place and i wanted to
know how good they are. the tread patter looks both aggressive and sexy(in my opinion).

currently i have a 140/70-17 and i realy like the tires performance but it does not look sporty to me.

i have the Battlax BT-45H Sport TouringTires and a stock front tire.

and this is the tire that i am thinking of getting. http://www.chaparral-racing.com/Chaparral/product_family.asp?family%5Fid=11726&gift=False&0=dept%2Easp%2Cdept%5Fid%3D456%26menu%5Fid%3D%26Tree%3D%2CStreet%20Tires%2FWheels&1=dept%2Easp%2Cdept%5Fid%3D161%26menu%5Fid%3D%26Tree%3D0%2CIRC%20Street%20Tires&mscssid=0092EEDA6095504312A01CC51678E356

and if anyone has a different size tire that looks sporty, i have never seen a 140/80-17. put a link to your gallery.

thanks

What was I thinking?
I have been buying motorcycle tires for 32 years based on how they stick, perform and wear.
And all this time, I forgot to buy them based on how they look?
What was I thinking?
:)

Try doing a search of the site under "tires."
There are plenty of posts about the subject.

Define "looks sporty."  Moreover, why do you care what it looks like?  I'd prefer "won't slip and dump my ass on the pavement" over "looks sporty."

I've not seen anyone comment on IRC tires, not even the resident tire guru, gsJack.

Edit: here are the sportiest-looking tires for our bike in the stock size.

Well, they're on my tire FAQ list of tire mfgs:

I don't know anything about their RX-01 tires, but IRC has been around for a long time and a couple of board members here bought them awhile back.  Thought they might comment if they saw this post.

OK, the man wants sporty looking tires so here's the sportiest looking one around:

My 150/70 Conti Road Attack, looks big and sporty to me!

Here's the only pic I have of the 140/80 Avon AV36 on the back of my old 97 GS:

The Sport Demon is arguably the stickiest tire available in stock sizes.  That's why I posted it.
