Anyone near Asheville?
Lets plan a bike night/ride.
nobody?
i'm near asheville....but plans for me dont' usually work. But it would be nice.
I want to make this at least a monthly event. So maybe work around scheduals :thumb:
Ok i give up :flipoff: :2guns:
It would be fun but we would have to find few ready to do it.
Yep, it would be. We can keep trying :thumb:
I am in upstate South Carolina, bout 45 minutes away.I'd be willing to ride up a couple times a month.
Bike will be going down soon for upgrades.Doing it all myself.Gotta love ebay for parts hunting. :thumb:
Maybe we should make it a Western Carolinas division meet. 8)

How about alternating the meets between Ashville and Greenville.
Now thats a great idea!!! I love riding down to Greenville. Im really wanting to check out downtown. I usually go out to Haywood mall.
What you all think.

Hey roosterbike.I think a Greenville/Asheville rotation could be a good thing.Get the people down here worked up and have them come up to Asheville.Visit the Grove Park Inn if you ever go to Ashville,North Carolina.Better yet stay the night,it's beautifull. Then ever one can come to Greenville/South Carolina for a gathering.
Profitable.Say we have a gathering at a local high school parking lot.You ask some local vendors to set up.You charge a fee for their space to set up displays and sale. You make a deal with the school to donate a percentage to help fund their after school programs. The person who cordinates takes the rest.Usually people who do this donate 70% of the money made to the school and ask the vendors to contribute if they can. This helps the kids, school, local economy, vendors to sell products, and a place for people to meet like minded people. How da ya think NOPI and SEMA got started? Not hard to do,just takes at least 6 months of planning. You can get vendors to offer prizes.Ask people who want to display there bike(s) to pay a set up fee.Use some of your percentage to offer trophies and prizes. You can ask people who are planning to come to fill out a simple visitors form before they come. This way you know how many people to expect, and estimate how much money you may possibly bring in.We just had a car show in Inman where I live.Brought in 300 local cars and a half million in sales. They shut down the town streets. This was the first car show they ever had.Next year they all ready have double that many cars registered.I know this is a annual thing, but hey we gotta do something to relax.A monthly meet would be a great start. If anyone wants to plan an annual meet, let me know.I will help.
Ben
Hate to thread jack. But I hope some of you guys can make it out111111111111

I've got more people coming with me, but it's looking weak on the GS side.
I think a group meet in or around ashville would be nice, I will be in if someone says when and where.
I would love to meet up with you guys. there is a great place to eat in asheville called Mack Kells. it's a bar/restaurant. Usually has a bike nite, but we can always make our own. My roommate rides also, not a gs, but that's ok. Mon & tues. are not good for me, but any other nite is ok. Lets just start throwing out some days and people can say if they are in or out. Any suggestions to a day??
Personally for me the next 2 weekends are booked, but during the week is ok.
I work evenings through week.Weekends, through the day, are open if I have advanced warning. This weekend is good(16th & 17th june).Next,unsure.
I'm good on weekends this weekend might work, the next is my son's birthday so might not work out. The last weekend of this month is the Dragon meet so it's booked. Just to get it started we could do something this weekend or if you guys want to what untill Heather can be there, I'll plan my sons's party Sat. or Sun. during the day. I'd rather meet in the day or early evening. You guys let me know what works for you and I'll try to make it.

Scratch this.I am getting another frame to do my build on.Bike will not be down.Woooooo Hoooooooo
this sunday would be ok. i'm just going to be busy mainly fri nite and all day sat. let me know, i'm going to be in asheville helping a friend move some furniture....I hate to be the wuss of the group but if it's raining I would rather not be riding. So, maybe closer to time we can check the weather & see if it's good. I will meet you guys, but I don't like riding in the rain, so I would drive my car....pray for sun.

You're not the wuss of the group,I am.I avoid rain like death.Rain is one of the many things I can mostly avoid to keep from wreckin.
i try to stay out of the ran also, isn't the 17th fathersday, I'll have to stick with the kids all day. but I'll get in on the next one.
yeah, it is...may have to rethink that one. guess we will try again later.
It's pappy's day soon.I wonder how much grief the children will give me? :dunno_white:

I'm in Asheville, near the river district. Up for riding most days after 2pm.
any other suggestions as to when to meet up?? I know the GAP ride is this weekend, I'll be out of town the next...weekend after the 4th. Maybe the next weekend?? Around July 14th?? Any suggestions
I might be free on the 14th of July
i can go on the 14th after 3, or any time on the 15th.
I may be able to make it.
Im back, I want to get this "club" started. Ive been changing jobs, moving, and having heart problems. Now Im back and want to do this head on. Im working on a logo with the shape of the NC/SC states and a big GS in the middle. Any thoughts or goof offs. As far as meets, the first "official" meet will be in Asheville August (so we can plan ahead) 18th, at Brevard Road Ryans restaurant at 12:30 pm for lunch, meet and greet, attendance roster to be taken of charter members, and a ride. Pics will need to be taken. Anyone got a good digital?
Anyone want to plan a ride. Im gonna build a web site to show off the pics and club stuff. So whos in? Or do we need another date.
We also need a good club name, GS-riders Western Carolinas Division? GSWCD?
Lets allow other riders to attend, but let the core members be GS riders.
Let me know soon so I can make reservations.

Sounds good so far.I'd call it GS Rider's Carolina Division=GSRCD.It's a little shorter and cover both the carolinas in full. Most saturdays in aug are open right now.How about a shadow of a man on a motorcycle on the breast or pocket, and GS500 under it.Just a thought.
BTW Good luck with the job and moving.Take care of your heart and forget the rest.Get better soon.
Ben I like the idea, can you run with it? I got an idea for a shirt, Gonna have the image be a F series on the left and Naked on the right, with a rivited steel GS in the center. Under the GS in smaller letters put the GSRCD, plus something like western NC or Upstate SC. This would be on the back of the shirt and GSRCD on the front left breast. Im gonna start a new post to get names and RSVP, not really a resevation put just want to know how big of a place to get.

Kool, get the logos finalized, shirt amounts and sizes, colors and pm me.I need to print the logos and take them to Spartan Custom. You maybe able to just email them directly and get price quotes.I know they have a website and I know they will do just 1 shirt or 1000.The more that's ordered the less they cost. You can also ask them to keep the logos for future orders.I should be able to cover the cost of a 10 or 20 and make a $1 or $2 off them to purchase more.Or I can get a cost estimate and buyers can prepay and give their color and size(s).I can do paypal or money order.Anyone with ideas, please feel free to contribute.
We really should put GSTwins.com on the shirts in case someones curious, but afraid to ask.
We could put the GS twin.com on as a patch, like a Dupont, Bud, etc. do with racers, or i can have irons made and each person can do it at his/her choice. Lets get an idea with the first meeting at how many shirts, the maybe by the 2nd meet, when can have them ready. :dunno_white:

Yea that way we'll know what our people prefer and may buy the shirts. It'd be great to spread the word around our areas and get more people envolved.
I'm good with having GSTwin.com on the shirts, if it wasn't for this place non of this would be happening.
I agree, i just talked with a guy who makes patches for other bike clubs. Depending on the size, we may be looking at 4.00-8.00 per patch. Im gonna have both a GSRCD and a GS Twin.com as patches for my leather vest and my ride jacket. Im gonna go sometime today to price the most basic shirt designs. GS Twin.com on front, GSRCD on back, maybe a photo of a naked and F series. or maybe have it where you can have the style you ride, or the generic with both. Ill post when I get back home later
Kool man.
Depending on the order, and the type of shirts Ben and I pick, cost of a basic shirt with GSTwin.com on left breast and GSRCD on back(name spelled out under the Bigger letters) is about 10-15 per shirt. Now my thought is to give a Road Captain shirt to the lead rep in each area, Ben in the Upstate, Me here, and etc. Thats for the ones who will be planning the rides, fuel stops, etc. We can do Road Captain as a patch. I say we take the shirt sales and any profit that can be made, we use to plan the next official meet. Signs, shirts, stickers, maybe even a catered lunch eventually. What say you Ben? Im gonna price a few other shirt people today, so ill keep hunting.
You shouldn't have to pay more then $10. for a shirt, at least I never have. Simply T's over here in Cullowhee always gives me good deals.
I agree with crucialval on the shirt price. I think it's a good plan.I believe we should have a national meet and greet once a year in Asheville and hold it at the Groove Park Inn.That place is amazing. :) Sorry getting to excited over this plan, and getting ahead of myself. :thumb:
yeah the Groove Park Inn is nice and all but I'd rather put my money in my bike and meet at a pull off in the middle of a group ride. "it's free"
Im gonna start planning the Big GS run for next year at the Grove, its a great idea Ben and I want to run with it. Ill need help so ill be asking, you too Crucival. Anyway the shirts were sale price, not what we order them for. So what i need from you both is to start getting names of members going due to the fact no one is really responding.
