Title: Bye Bye motorcycle.
Post by: annguyen1981 on May 26, 2007, 03:55:19 PM
Yesterday, I went to Lee, MA to meet and have lunch with Alpha, AJ, and Pastrami.

I got home at around 8ish.  I went to sleep around 9:30 or so...  My parents came home at around 10:45pm.

I was working at 10am this morning, and I figure I'll leave the house a little early and enjoy the nice weather. So I leave around 9:30am.  I grab my helmet and tank bag.  I go outside.

I can't find the bike.  Maybe I parked it on the street.

No.

Maybe I parked it behind my sister's bike.

No.

MOTHERFUCKINGASSHOLESSTOLEMYBIKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I call the police and have them take a report.  That take 1/2 hour.

Then I call the insurance co.  I finish that call around 10:45am.

I'm pissed.

I actually DON'T want them to find it until I get my insurance check...  I'd never know what they did to the poor bike.

HAHA

I was thinking about that too.

The front rim has what looks like curb rash or something...
The leftside plastics are scratched from my fall.
Engine cover on left is scraped up.
Front plastics have a SLIGHT rash on the tip, but NOT noticable unless you look for it, because of the location.
Left mirror a little scratched.
Rear plastics MINOR scratches...  REALLY not noticable, even if you look for them...  You have to FEEL for them.

I bought the plastics (brand new) for REAL cheap.  I never bothered to put them on.  So I've got them in my room TRULY taking up space now...

Still pissed tho.

Oh well...

Well...  I've been involved with TWO hit and run incidents...  and I've had good luck with both.  The first time, the g/f in the passenger seat convinced the kid to stop running...  (I was chasing them in my VERY CRIPPLED car).  The second time, the asshats bailed on foot, and I called the police and had their car impounded.

I've been looking for another bike for the last 6 hours...  It's freakin hard...  no bikes in the market right now except BRAND NEW.

My understanding is they wait 30 days. Which blows.

Sorry to hear it An.. hope the bastards get found and rot in jail for awhile.

30 days is pretty standard.    If that triumph is still around when my insurance pays out I'm seriously considering it, dont really care for the paint, but I'd just get an american flag airbrushed over the brit one and it'd be damn sexxy :thumb:

I've heard 30 days too, but that would REALLY suck.

Did something happen to your ride too?  Why are you waiting for an insurance payout?

I'm looking right now for another bike.  If they find it before the insurance payout comes, I'll sell it.

Think of it as a chance to catch up on post whoring. :)

Seriously, sorry to hear about your bike.  You should get a GS ratbike so you don't have to worry because they won't steal it since it doesn't look like it'll run.

IMHO stay away from the exotics, you couldn't pay me to take that 955 Daytona. Friend of mine rides a Mille and services Duc's for a dealer...parts are a nightmare. Now if you want a status symbol to buck the system they're cool. I know a guy here who has a Daytona 955 and it spends more time being fixed than he get's to ride it. Now if you want true elegance 600cc handling and litre bike find a nice honda 954.

I blame AJ, Pastrami, and Alpha...

They just INSISTED that we meet together for lunch/dinner.

After we finished our food, we went outside and sat near the R6.  Almost everyone that drove by looked at the bike, and there were a handful of people that honked as us too.

Strange people.

The strangest was a funny looking guy with a funny looking hat walking around the outside of the restaurant.

Creepy.

yup, im from little old lee. An told me about how you guys were meeting up last friday or when ever that was and i was thinking about heading down, but i was busy looking for a ride to the prom after party that night haha. ill try to find the chat room too, sometime we should have one big meet up n ride. i think next weekend me and a few Pittsfield kids are gonna try to go for a ride if i we all have a day off.

EDIT: oh and An, i posted a bulletin on myspace and a thread in a bike group on myspace asking people to keep there eyes open for the yzf. i put in a link of the video of the yellow headlights and that flashy bar thing under the tail light so they would know what to look for. hopefully itll turn up in one piece.

I've already registered the bike as stolen on sites like www.stolen-bike.com.  I'm just hoping that the asshats get what they deserve (and more).

I could say "that's what you get for buying the WORLD'S MOST STOLEN BIKE EVER" but I doubt it'll do little good.  Good luck getting it back...if do, sell it, or someone will steal it again.  Get a CBR or a GSXR...less GSXR's are stolen than any other supersport.

From what I read GSX-R's are the number 1 stolen bike and the number two was the yammi  :dunno_white:.   Doesn't really matter either way.   if you own a sportbike people will try to steal it.

Hey An sorry about your bike being stolen, hope it works out soon weather they recover it or wright it off as a total loss.

maybe it's changed by now, but by the end of 2005 the YZF-R6 had become the world's most stolen bike of all time.  There were more R6's stolen than any other MAKE.
Title: Re: Bye Bye motorcycle.
Post by: natedawg120 on May 29, 2007, 11:43:30 AM
I think the most stolen would probably coorilate to the most bought.  I know that there are a shaZam! ton of the old style r6s out there but not so many of the 06 or newer.  Plus, when they finked out on their boasted 15.5k redline, or whatever it was supposed to be a lot of people didn't buy it.
Title: Re: Bye Bye motorcycle.
Post by: makenzie71 on May 29, 2007, 12:01:24 PM
Even if it coorilates with the "most bought' the R6 still has impressive figures.  It wasn't just stolen more than any other bike...it was stolen more than any other MAKE.

Yeah... that's gonna be my second purchase..  The first is a new bike.

I called the insurance claim agent.  She told me that they give it 30 days (standard) to see if the bike shows up.  If not, they write it off as totalled.

Either way, whatever damage that is done, I'm getting $500 less because of the deductible.

The only trouble with one of those is that someone might consider it a suspicous item & call the bomb squad & they'll come & blow up your bike.  :cookoo:

I have two of those Xena locks...  Nothing like having Xena protect your bike....

Title: Re: Bye Bye motorcycle.
Post by: makenzie71 on May 29, 2007, 05:42:37 PM
the real problem with those is if you happen to have a thief as equipped as I am...I have a set and bolt cutters that would rip the thing right off.  It'd probably bugger up the rotor, too, but oh well.

Friend of mine had his R6 stolen...he had a real beefy, high dollar disc lock on the bike and he had a chain going through the wheel and rotor tying it to a post or a tree I can't remember.  The thief picked the lock on the chain, took the front wheel off and unbolted the rotor, then locked the rotor back to the tree with the chain.

If they want it, they're gonna get it...locks only stop honest people.  Best you can hope for is to slow down a thief, but you can never count on that.
Title: Re: Bye Bye motorcycle.
Post by: RVertigo on May 29, 2007, 05:59:44 PM
The cheaper Xena locks are easier to break off, but it's still hard to get a hacksaw between the disc and the lock...  Much less bolt-cutters.  The newer ones have a 18mm double locking pin (locks top and bottom).  And...  The alarm attracts unwanted attention....

But, it still holds true.  If someone wants it bad enough, they WILL get it.  But, a good disc-lock might just make them look for an easier bike. :dunno_white:

And the real question is...  Is it worth $80-$100 to make a thief think twice about stealing YOUR bike?
