Title: Do you ever just feel stupid
Post by: roosterbike on May 27, 2007, 08:39:22 PM
I was on my daily ride, when i pulled up to a red light. The 07 with 443 miles, cut off on me. I had to push it to the nearest open parking space, cops were being jerks. The bike would start, run about 2 seconds, idle below 1000, shut off. Every time.
Called the Old Lady, get my brother and my truck.
I start doing an assesment. A little oil on the right side of the frame. Battery cables are tight and good. Then, I hear Carl from Slingblade, "Aint got no gas in it...".
I stood there feeling like a complete idiot. Flipped the petcock to reserve, rode home.   :dunno_white:
Of course I had to hear about it from my brother, Ill never live it down. Im the one always fixing his bike. :thumb:

I feel stupid every time I work on my GS...  And then I usually feel stupid slightly after I've worked on it.

Try hooking up your fuel lines backwards...  Hitting "Reserve" only to find out that you're totally out of gas.....

What's real fun is to pull into parking space, shut off bike, get off bike and watch it fall to the ground.

Seems like you have to "manually" deploy the kickstand. LOL
Yep, I did that once.

I watched a guy on a brand new Harley Road King, Fullly Dressed, pull up to a stop light, never put his feet down and freaked out when it fell over.
i helped him get it back up, found out he had a Goldwing with "training" wheels. He had only had the Harley for about 30 min.
He forgot to use his feet.

Yep, I did that once.

I did this early in my riding career, too!    It wasn't *quite* the beginning of my long and distinguished falling-over career, but pretty close.  :icon_lol:

Hey first post on the forum. Just bought a new 05 gsf and love it. Doing great on it until I'm followed by my father go to pull into the parking spot 3 feet from my destination and accidentally kick it into neutral and stall the bike. Always happens at the most unoppertune times.

Not to mention I ran out of gas the other day. Lots of first times but I'm loving every bit of it.

My damn savage has an innertube gasket inbetween the fuel tap and tank keeping it from leaking ... which had somehow turned itself into a flap and flapped over the openings and fuel was flowing like a trickle ... So it will start and idle great, just try to ride it and after 1-2 miles it was toast. I thought it was out of gas ... I go fill up, and on the way back ... same thing. Come home and disconnect the line and in prime it drips drop ... drop ... drop ... drop ...  :o
Cool.
Srinath.

Well yes.

Replace fuel lines, filter, oil, oil filter, clean and wax, install new flyscreen, empty saddlebags of 'stuff', clean helmet shield, don boots, gloves, helmet, jacket, ya pants too...

Go for a quick spin to fill up and add SeaFoam. Come home, click into 1st after smoothly stopping, and step off.

Clapity crunch.

Ho - Ya!

Sidestand!!!
