I'm replacing my front forks (bent due to an accident) and decided to disassemble the bad ones before tackling the good ones for some educational learning. After hack sawing the bent tubes I come to discover that I am the proud owner of a set of emulators . Now all sorts of questions start going through my head. To start:
1. What is the proper way to use these? I know how to put them back in the forks but....
2. Is there any machining necessary of other dampening (sp?) parts in the new set of forks?
3. Are the springs stock? These are ~17 inches long with a thin metal tube spacer ~3.5 inches
4. If the springs are after-market, how can I determine their rate easily?
5. What wheight oil should I use? I was going to use 15 wt but now that I have this extra equipment :dunno_white:
6. Do the emulators control compression, rebound, or both? I think its only compression and the wieght of the oil controls both. :dunno_white:
7. More to come I'm sure....

the problem is you searched on gstwin.... try the web
go to race tech or emulator's parent website and look around.
they should have good tech support and FAQs
should answer 1
2.... if you took them out put them in the same way
look at the dampening rod holes....are they same or different than stock in the new forks?
3 .... stock springs have a 5-6 inch spacer
4 ... no easy way, just assume they are way better than stock...they are BTW.
5.....see # 1
6 ... see # 1, I do believe it is a little of both due to the way the shims stack from the last set I saw
they are adjustable but you have to remove them to adjust.
7 .... keep them coming we all like to help ya'll
With emulators you need to drill out the damper holes, there are instructions on the racetech website about what needs to be done
