Title: POSSIBLE BIKES TO REPLACE STOLEN R6
Post by: annguyen1981 on May 30, 2007, 08:53:45 PM
I found this R6 about 40 minutes away from me...  The only think I'm not trilled about is the color.  BLUE is my fav.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Yamaha-R6-Carbon-fiber-exhaust-1400-miles-LOWERED_W0QQitemZ320120967680QQihZ011QQcategoryZ147906QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

I emailed the seller to find out what his reserve is...  so stay tuned...

Then I found this SWEET R1...  The bad thing is...  It's in Michigan...  I'm in Massachusetts.  Enough said.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/GLOW-IN-THE-DARK-YZF-R1-600-RR-R6-CBR-NINJA-GSX-R-GSXR_W0QQitemZ150127774592QQihZ005QQcategoryZ147906QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

I REALLY like the way the white paint is done on this bike...  and even tho it's an older R1, it has ALMOST the same styling as my '04 R6 (poor R6).

the bad thing abouut R1s is that they have a beacon in on the underbody that radios in to all the local cops in the area and tells them to follow you or wait in hard to see areas until you decide to put the bike into third gear and do 100mph

Yeah.  I *HATE* it when sellers do that in the auction title, BUT I'm glad this seller did, cause I would have NEVER searched for an R1

Well, it's a good thing I never do anything that stupid.

Yeah, they rejected one of my auctions for it.  I don't remember what I was selling, but I thought my cross promotion applied and I'd seen it done so many times before.  I understand why it's against their policies, but I would have never guessed it with how many like that I see out there.

I got an email back from this seller...

His reserve is $5400...

I did the math...  Ebay will take $99.xx in fees.  Paypal will take $13x.xx in fees...  If I offered $5000 or $5100 and explain WHY it would be beneficial to end the auction early, I think he'd take the offer.

The problem is, I don't like the color.

So therefore, I'm not getting it.

My helmet actually doesn't match ANYTHING blue...

After looking at the helmet again, I think it would match the red bike better.

what I don't understand is why you're looking at another one of THE WORLD'S MOST STOLEN BIKE EVER.

Give us a price range and we'll find you something really cool that won't get stolen out from under you.

Just because it's THE worlds most stolen bike doesn't mean I don't like them.  Just because Mustangs and Corvettes are stolen a lot doesn't mean I'll go buy a Yugo.

Actually...

Anyone got a Yugo for sale?

If I had the money, I'd be getting a 1098s

Vettes and Stangs don't have a 47% chance of being stolen.

I asked for a price range...not "how much would you like to spend"...

$6k is roughly my range on a USED bike, but if I go that route, I'd like to get a newer bike with low miles.  I don't have enough time to worry about fixing and a LOT of maintainance on an older bike.  The next bike I get I would like to keep and ride more than a year.

That's why I'm considering a NEW bike.  More, yes.  But less (hopefully) maintainance and worrying.  My budget for a new bike is $8k-9K

An have you thought how you'r going to try and keep this one from being stolen?  Disk locks, chains, pitbull or parking it in your room?

This is what I would do . . . . get a new bike that you can't really afford but want to ride real bad. . . .like lets say an MV Agusta F4-1000R Senna

Make sure you buy GAP insurance.  Ride it around until this one gets stolen, and you can repeat until your insurance drops you.

Seriously if your gonna get a new bike make sure you get GAP insurance for it.  That way if some where  to happen to your new bike you won't be left holding the crapy end of the stick.

I have my 954 my wifes F4i my dirtbike and my son's dirtbike. Before we bought our house I would consider none of these items. These are high theft items.

Several of our local guy's who rent or live in houses without garages pay for storage sheds and garage their bieks there. This is a hassle but some place with a secured gate 24hour access and is monitored is going to be your best bet if you don't own a home. Definately pay for gap insurance if your going to finance.

O went bike shopping the whole day today...

www.valleymotorsports.com

A really nice, practically brand new 2007 CBR600rr with only 300 miles.  $8000 + ttr
(http://www.getpowersports.com/gam/images/dealerid/42/inventory/IMG_0446.JPG)

At the same place, there was this BEAUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUTIFUL 2006 Yamaha FZ1 with a custom headlight setup...  I MELTED WHEN I SAW THIS!!!

Definitely better than the stock stuff:

Now...  don't forget...  I don't like red...  but Yamaha does a REALLY nice job with the red paint...  i could live with it.

But i JUST came back from another dealer

I told them about the stolen R6, and asked them the best price (paid cash in full) on a new Yamaha R6s...   (The same style as my stolen one...  not that crap bug-like one with the puny "exhaust can")

Ready?

$8000

OTD

WHOOPEE!!!!

I do believe I have found my replacement!

I think i"m going to give them a ring on Tuesday and see if / how much it would be ship that FZ1.  And just put off buying the truck I was looking at.

mmm.... Dealer price is AU$15990 + roughly another grand for dealer delivery etc.
AU$16990 converts to US$14150. Then there"s shipping.....
Buy the truck.

An. If you buy new, throw a leg over as many bikes as you can & take them for a test ride.
The RR supposedly has a lot more torque through its rev range or you may get off on the top
end rush of the ZX.

The problem is, not many dealers will let you test ride their bikes...  Liability.

You may ask if they have a customer satisfaction guarantee. The Honda dealership does net let you take a bike for a test ride but if you decide within 24hours of purchase that you don't like your new motorcycle you may return it for a full refund.

The Daytona 675 has won the Master Bike's Supersport class for the second time at the Jerez
Circuit in Spain. Look for the bike comparo. in Cycle World magazine.
Master Bike is a track based comparo. though, but it'll give you something to read while you wait
for your insurance payout.
