This is pretty cool. A new toy from Microsoft...

HA HA HA! MS is like a horney dog sniffing Apple's butt. Apple came up with that last year. :dunno_white:
yeah kinda like how all the 'new' features in vista are rip-offs of shaZam! mac released with the 'tiger' OS almost 2 years before vista   :thumb:
MS is :bs: :flipoff: :flipoff: I'll never own a PC again. my mac has never had anything resembling a system error :thumb: :thumb:
I sure wish my Mac would stop crashing... :icon_confused: That f%$king thing crashes more than Win98. :o
Hmm... Didn't know it was a mac rip off, but that's kind of been the history between apple and M$ thoughout time, isn't it. I'd like a MAC for my next PC, especially since their move to Intel... Is it an intel mac you have Vertigo? Aren't they known for ridiculous uptimes (no crashing).
Hmm...
Cheers,
J
mines an intel based macbook. My current uptime is like 4 months and not a single crash :thumb: you'd never believe it only has 512mb of ram :o never had a problem and I run all sorts of apps :thumb: :thumb:
Mine is a Powerbook... Only has 1GB RAM... :icon_rolleyes:
yeah those are the older non-intel based ones......I've heard of some problems with those. what OS do you have ?????
Whatever the new one is... 10.x.x.x.x.x.x.x :dunno_white: I keep it updated, hoping that it will stop being a crash monster... But, I think I'm just asking too much from a 2.66 laptop.
:dunno_white: dunno, I never have any problems :icon_mrgreen: I'm watching live stream south park checking 2 forums, my emailand f%$king around with geoCAD right now withoout so much as a hiccup :thumb: :thumb: reminds me I need to check for updates for office :icon_confused:
Never had issues with my 1ghz powerbook, nor with my newer macbook. What kind of crashing? Turning off, or screen dumps, or ...?
I love my little macbook, I've never had a computer that was so intuitive and easy to use.... :thumb: :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:
In working with some serious sound recording on new Intel based Macs and PC's:
Mac's crash about every 3 weeks and crash HARD, need to have OS reinstalled.
PC's crash once a week but just need a reboot.
AMD+linux= the shi7 cant beat it :) and its free ! :flipoff: :flipoff:

Heh?
I used to be a sysadmin for about 120 macs. I can't recall a single time we ever had to do an OS reinstall... They do crash, sometimes, some macs just seem problematic. My current work machine (intel imac) and home machine (old ass powerbook) have never crashed on me. Only time I reboot is for OS updates.

Hey, where do I get the free AMD?
Also, where do I get a Visio equivalent for Linux?

Either a complete hang or the app just dies...
It's happened in Garage Band and iMovie... I'm blaming the crappy software.

I've tried kivio. I wasn't impressed. I also am currently running gnome. I'll have to try Dia. I heard about that yesterday on another board. Never heard of parallels. I'm reallly trying to go completely Linux at home for working purposes (games are another matter), but Visio has been a huge stumbling block. For the record, OpenOffice Draw sucks.
parallels is great. Pricey, but it removes the whole can't run windows only apps problem. The next version is supposed to support full 3D as well so you could even play those latest and greatest PC games :) I mostly use it on my mac to test websites under IE, nice to be able to create a bunch of virtual machines with various browser versions installed.
Linux is starting to kick some serious butt ... Yeah, 3d effects, good apps, i'm too easily amused. May be good with AMD, but sucks with their ATI Graphic cards...
3d acceleration in Linux still has quite a bit to mature. I've never had a stable system with 3d acceleration. it always seems to crash X-windows.
