Title: clubman vs SM2 bars
Post by: mattress on June 03, 2007, 03:57:27 PM
After browsing around the forum lately, I noticed there are aftermarket handlebars that resemble the riding posture of clipons.

this is awesome!

So after some reading, it looks like the Suburban Machinery Type2 bars seem to be the most popular, followed by clubman.

What are the pros and cons between the two bars?  The SM2's are $150 vs $20 for clubmans I've found...

also, what model clubmans should I be looking for?

Is there anything else I should know when upgrading bars?  (I read about having to drill a hole for the controls to clip on properly to the clubmans)

Thanks guys!

bump

anyone have any reviews or information they'd like to add?  I'm leaning towards the cheap clubmans, but don't know which type to get...  but if they're really garbage, I'll splurge on the SM2's...

I couldn't get the clubmans that I had to fit around my triple tree so I never got to actually ride with them.  So just make sure they are wide enough to fit.

i had to cut my clubmans in half and get a 2" piece welded to make them fit. but since i did they are great....just make sure they fit or you will have to cut and weld. :)

is there a way to make sure they're the correct size before I order them online?  What should I be looking for?  If I have to cut/weld a bar to make it fit, it's not even worth it in my opinion...

make sure the center is long enough to fit over your triple. I thought mine was going to be big enough. had I known they would have to be cut and welded I wouldn't have gotten them, but after I got them they were not the right size and no exchanges on ebay....so, I made it work- and they do. just make sure the center is long enough.
