Title: suggestions on color
Post by: heatherg11 on June 04, 2007, 05:26:47 PM
I have a friend that is going to paint my bike for the cost of paint!!! Any suggestions on what color? He can put anything on it, any design. I need some suggestions.

http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/shortybd11/detail?.dir=9580re2&.dnm=fa1fre2.jpg&.src=ph

my bike now...it's purple, not a good pic. Please no, get another bike, etc...comments. It's not going to cost me anything but paint. My rims are silver. Any suggestions are welcome, photoshop it if you want!!

Triumph Fusion White:

White bikes look good.

if you go for a color other than white...do a candy...candies are the best...mine is blue...but you can easily do any other color..it makes the color pop and if you use a high metal flake base it really shines.. check out  www.alsacorp.com (http://www.alsacorp.com)

I like the plain simple S on the gas tank (like on SV650s).

My bikes getting painted on the cost of paint , im getting a blue metalflake , no decals or graphics , it doesnt really work , suzuki written somewhere would be nice, if your paying for paint , depending on how good he/she is , you can get , metalflake , candy , Flip, anything , and with the rims , why not get them painted and laqoured to?

I have a '94 GS and I love the color of red it was painted with from the factory.  I think whites may be a chore to keep clean. I think reds and blues are the best colors. just my 2 cents.

rims were just painted silver by dgyver...not going to touch them-they look great!! So, it's gotta go with the silver rims, they aren't changing.

That is a pretty cool decal.  It's my favorite suzuki tank design AND it's reflective.

The purple reminds me of grape Popsicles..you know..the kind that taste like cough syrup? Which in turn make me want to lick the tank just to make sure it doesn't taste like grape Popsicles. So there..if you don't want random strangers licking your bike you shouldn't  keep it purple

Do you have any pictures of your paint job that you could post up other than the one you use for your avatar?

I think brighter, wild colors are the way to go...  Then add in Metal Flake, Candy, Pearl...  Oh man, SICK looking in the sun.   :icon_mrgreen:

Pearl White is classy...  Yellow, Orange, Bright Green are flashy...  Matte Black is mean...  Silver is muted classy...  Red is fast (but played out)...  Pink and baby blue are cute and/or fun...  Dark green, Burnt Orange are retro...

It all depends on what you want your bike's attitude to be.  I like flashy bikes...  Bright, shiny, sparkley...  Oh yeah.  Anti's Orangesicle is SWEEEEEEEEEEET!!!

So...  Come up with a description of your bike, then find a color to match.  Do you want Flash or Class?  Fun or Mean?  etc.

it's not that I don't like the purple...it's my favorite color and always has been. but I'm getting a paint job basically for FREE. Free doesn't come around me very often, so I want to take advantage of it. I don't plan on getting another bike anytime soon either, so this one is gonna last me for a long time. I've seen a bunch of color's I like, but none that just jumped out at me.  gonna keep looking til I find that perfect color.

I want flash, but class and definately fun.....doesn't help very much.

I can't get those pics to come up. are they in the gallery?

That two bros can looks NICE.

Are you using it with the "ultra srinath flange" or did you have something else made up?

Class, flash, and fun...

Ok...  You're looking at a Classy base color with some sort of flashy/fun graphic or stripe.  So...  Silver or White pearl/candy/metal flake....    Then a flashy/bright color for the other color.

I love that can..its so throaty and gives me good flow! The midpipe and flange were made by my dad and I, as were the mounting brackets. I think it goes well with the bike...its off a cbr1000 cheapy find off ebay..

It's from Alsa Corp  (http://www.alsacorp.com) Its the Nevada Silver base  (http://alsacorp.com/products/stylin/stylin_price.htm) with the Cobalt Blue Candy  (http://alsacorp.com/products/candyconcentrates/candy_price.htm) over the top. Click on any of the pictures there to supersize them. I highly recommend using their paints..better than House of Kolor. I ordered a Quart of base and a 4oz bottle of Candy. I had left overs..enough to repaint my bike again after I wrecked it..

I saw a pic of a silver gs that looked pretty good...silver, black, grey???

I haven't seen an actual BLACK gs yet. All I've seen are super-dark blue, with very very dark blue metal flake (mine).

I'm beginning to like the pearl blues, and since seeing a pearl orange (awesome) I like it too.

Recommending those three colors seem good to me.

On a side -  anyone have a pictures of a true factory black, not dark blue ?

If was painting a bike, I would probably use a metallic dark charcoal gray base with silver logos. Maybe add some medium charcoal gray accents.

See if you can get some paint samples from the paint supplier...  It might help you make up your mind.   :dunno_white:

A note on samples, Alsa will send you painted samples if you email them and ask for them. You pay shipping but its still cheaper than ending up with a color you don't like...

Orange and White!   Orange and white!
I used House of color's sunset orange and strait white all pearlized.
I don't think that would work on your bike though. Do you want to go solid or some sort of design?

i think the designs wouldnt look good , My opinions tho

go with black base with candy red top coat.  seen it once and it looks sharp as hell.  almost a deep blood red but it just pops.  repainting mine this winter, black and silver with red pinstriping.  i work at a bodyshop and one of the guys said he will paint it for almost nothing.  he already has painted at least 4 bikes this summer.  or go with kawasaki flat plasma candy blue.  it's a flat candy and looks great.  have a friend with a 06 zx6r in that color

Ah, it is a little bit of sheet metal I formed to cover the wires. It's been temporary for a few years now. heh heh.

I have a more angularized round, (if that makes any sence) cover in mind to make a perminent one. It will look much nicer.
