Title: Upgrading headlight bulb?
Post by: davidd91 on July 26, 2003, 04:28:56 PM
The GS headlight takes H4 bulbs ... I was wondering if the wiring can handle a 80/100W uprated bulb rather than the stock 55/60W.  Is the wiring relayed?  Any reason a slight additional draw will cause any problems?

:?

No problem on my 2001 - which as far as I know has the same electrics as other years.  There is neither a headlight relay nor a headlight switch on the US models.

I ran an 80/80 PIAA superwhite for several months but it burned out (it was used from a friend). All seemed fine but when I looked at the wiring plug (part that connects to bulb) the plastic around one terminal was melted. Still works fine but makes me hesitant to replace bulb with 80/80 again.

Mine is '01

I converted straight to true HID. Much better lighting, blinds everyone. :-)
