Title: Quick Loctite question
Post by: Wrecent_Wryder on June 14, 2007, 02:47:02 PM
I note that the Clymer manual suggests Loctite Blue for the "Allen" (not on mine) bolts holding the stator in place, and I would assume for the others inside that cover.

I understand the need, obviously anything coming loose in there would be a disaster. However, I didn't think Blue (242) was rated for those temperatures... it gets HOT inside the case. Don't I remember that there was a higher-temp version?

No sign of anything on the bolts originally, but they were put in with a hydraulic impact wrench set on "crush". I'll degrease and clean the surfaces completely and tap them down with a hand-impact wrench, but I'd still feel better with something else helping.

Thanks.

Blue is good to 300 deg F, so it will be fine.
