From what I understand you can't modify the '01 and up advancers at all ... there's been a LOT of threads about this and I don't think anyone has ever come up with a solution

Email Bob Broussard at bobbroussard@x.cx He is located in California. He will send you his address and details about modifying your ignition rotor.
Just put GS500 Ignition Rotor Advance Details in the subject line.He usually charges $5.This covers return shipping.I sent $20,because he welds
and machines a 5 degree notch in your ignition rotor. This is well worth $20.A machine shop would charge $60+.I know,I ask my machinist.
Hope this helps. They quit making the aftermarket advanced rotor.

He won't/can't do it for the 04 and up (the multi pronged ignition advancers)

You can try the DIY ign advance described on the gstwin.com main page, though I don't know that anyone has confirmed it's effectiveness

you can do the bob broussard advancer up to '02, as evidenced by wrecent_wryder's bike. My understanding is that the DIY advance works on '04+.. I think it was nightryder who did it, before converting his to a naked. You might try PMing him

Doesn't the eurospec bike have an advanced ignition in ccomparo to the US bikes?

If so, get one of their ignition rotars.

I'm not sure what the Australian spec bike I have has?

As I understand the manual, the '04 CanAm models w/ 5@idle and 40@4k, it shows UK with 12@idle and 40@4k.
