Title: bought a v&h slip on
Post by: solosociety on June 18, 2007, 06:50:51 AM
i bought a new vance and hines slip on from one of my buddies, i belive it was for a gsxr but im not sure. anyway i cut the header pipe 2 inches after the y in the pipe. the pipe will damn near bolt right up except for the slip on is about a 1/4" bigger than the stock pipe. the real question is if i was to take the header pipe to the exhaust shop would they be able to expand the pipe enough for it to fit or do i need to come up with some other way.

Yes.It can be expandid a little, and slip fits have to be very snugg.Or you'll get exhaust up in your face and possible burn you or your passengers leg.

I'd try to make a bushing out of some sheet metal , but then again i'm just a HVAC dude and i have stuff like this laying around . I'm not sure of the thickness of the pipe wall , but it sounds like if you could get a short piece of the correct GSXR pipe to slip over your exhaust , then slide the slip-on over both pipes , then the hose clamp would take care of the rest  :dunno_white:

i took it to the exhaust shop and the expanded the header pipe for me so now its bolted on. i just need to take the whole bike to them so they can bend the slip on pipe to make it fit right. as of now it doesnt exactly fit right it kind of sticks out and it just needs to be bent up and out a  little so we will see if they can do it
