Title: adding strobes/neons to gs500
Post by: zubaznation on July 28, 2003, 11:58:36 AM
i bought some cheap "citylites" strobes at walmart...they say to connect to the 12V supply and ground...i tried putting right to the battery and grounding, and it didn't work, do i have to attach it to the light supply?  any idea which one goes to the headlight?

that might have been why they were so cheap.

OH NO!! :o  I knew this day would come...

Ricing out the GS is a mortal sin, punishable by laughter... please ...dont.... for the sake of our country and whats left of our rep...

Ahh ok, if you must... make sure they arent defective, althought buying two defective ones is odd.. Check to make sure you hooked it up right and that the ground is indeed grounded, and clean...free of paint etc.

oh, one more thing.. to avoid massive explosions and loss of bike.. put in an inline fuse. :nono:

boy, i guess i shouldn't tell you that i furred out the seat already!  i am getting bored with the bike's looks, and i can't afford much to do to it, so i am going simple and cheap...i don't see why ricing out the gs is bad...i think it looks good as a streetfighter too!  didn't think to check that my grounding might not be good...good call on the fuse too..

keep the suggestions coming if you got em...i really want to  put some sort of neons elsewhere...

The tank decals are clear coated over. Removing them will be bad.

Y'all are copying me about the strobes!  Although I don't have any on, I've had the idea for them since I bought the bike.  I also wanna get the firefly lights for the wheels.  Nice...

Here, I will laugh at myself:     That's the risk I take, not everybody likes it.

Getting back to zubaznation's questions, I'm using Liteglow's for my neon.  I got some more info and lousy pics here:

i work at target, and while i was walking around straightening stuff up i saw some real little neon lights, i was thinking it'd be cool to hook one up under the tail, by the suspension, i'd barely ever use it at all, i knwo that much, but it'd just be neat to have them there, i guess someday a situation could arise where it'd be happy i put them there, when hot girls are looking at my bike, never know,

the ones i saw looked like they were already hooked up to a cigarette lighter, so i'll look around pepboys and stuff, see what the options are, i know my one friend had them on his bike, i could ask him, but yeah, anything you guys would know about them would help, my bike is about as plain as it can get, it's just black, all of it, black tank, black frame, black engine, i think it's just something to amuse me for now, kinda how i want a helmet cam so bad, but i know if i had one, i'd use it twice, and then be done with it,

Hi, if you realy need to look like superhero Captain Neon, have you seen "TIREFLYS" & "TIREFLARES" they realy do the biz and you can't fuse out 'cos there's no wiring you just screw them into your valve stems. Do a search under the names there must be a US website, if not the UK one is www.icomm.ltd.uk/tireflys.   Spin them lamps!

I had tireflys on the bike last year, they lasted about 2 weeks and they broke  :x .  But they looked cool when they worked!
