Title: My Dads day present.
Post by: bettingpython on June 22, 2007, 11:12:30 AM
Ahhhhh trackday picks are in, these kinda sucked because I only got 3 sessions in before the rain came in and watered everything down. This was my fathers day present.

Yeah my son is a pretty good kid, of course he had to have my wife help him out with this since he's only 7 but it's the thought that counted.

Here is a slightly better photo than the contact sheet. Yeah it's a blast to ride all the handling of a 600 with big bike HP and torque. Wish they had continued the 954 when they went to the 1000. It's the last true fireblade since the 1000 was engineered by a different designer when Tadeo Baba retired. The 1k doesn't handle nearly as sweet as the 954.

What do you mean like a newb?

Come on up to Oklahoma anytime if you think you can show me how it's done.

I think he's pointing out that you're crossed-up.  In the pics, it looks like you're scooting off and leaning your lower body out, but not your upper body.  Your upper body should be leaned further into the turn, rather than being upright or slightly counter-leaning.  The outside arm should be straighter and the inside arm should be bent more, since you're leaning your upper body into the turn.

And your head should look like you're peering around a corner, looking far into the turn.

But, what do I know...  I ride a cruiser.

Kickass Dad's Day gift, BTW.

Damn Yellow Flags!   You just looked crossed-up in all the pics...   :dunno_white:  I wasn't there, so I can't say you're riding "like a newb."

yeah it's the posture.  you're not using your weight with the bike...and it looks like you're wrestling her around.  You look like you're working hard but the bike's lean and setup looks like it's just putting around.

But what do I know...my heads touch the ground before my knees...

See theres your problem you keep falling over. No I am not that fast the race group guys run about 20 seconds a lap faster than I do across a 1.8 mile course. My lap times were consistent 1:45's. And I wasn't fighting the bike, at least not the last 2 sessions my first session was horrible. 1 too many redbulls for breakfast. I never relaxed and got comfortable that session.

LOL must be nice to be thin and flexible. I am getting very stiff as I age.

Hallett

The beauty of living in Tulsa is being 45 minutes away from a very nice local track that runs it's own laping day events. A novice group is 110 bucks then the street and race groups are only 100 bucks. First timers do have to ride in novice and attend the riders school which runs an additional $20.

What part of Texas do you live in? There is Oak hill but that's an old go kart track and is horribly tight in the turns. Creson motor sports ranch is a fairly nice track but they havent been running the full 3.1 mile course. And there is the new Eagles Canyon Motorsports club. Oak hill is fairly cheap. There are some more down there but I Can't remember them all or where they're at. Some of the guys I ride with race CMRA and could tell you what's available down there.

Been meaning to post what the wife and kids got me , and that it sounded like they may be trying to get rid of me (they bought me 2 4-disk sets of the Streetfighterz DVDs - other stuff too , but they were the stand-outs ) - if they'd have gotten me a trackday too i'd have been real scared hehe
