Title: WTB GS500 close(ish) to Georgia.......
Post by: Mayoke on June 25, 2007, 11:02:10 AM
Hi all!
New member here and currently bikeless. (OH NOEZ!)
I am looking to fix that situation and the sooner the better.
So, I'm looking for a GS500 in good condition to buy and call my own.
Price range is negotiable.
Any help is appreciated.

Ack, sorry about that.
I guess it IS a big state and all.
I'm in Norcross, Ga. (30093) (10min N of ATL)
I'm willing to travel a little to get a bike though.
It wouldn't be the first time I put a bike on a truck and drove it back to ATL but I don't have my little Nissan P/U anymore but I'm sure I can get SOMEONE I know to help. (A lot of people owe me rather LARGE favors.)

Check on Georgiasportbike.com and blokessportbike.com, two local sportbike forums. I know a guy named ashskyler had a '96 for $500 obo, it runs, just needs minor things like a tire, and a tach. It's a steal, but I dunno if he still has it.

I'm here in Atlanta, at Georgia Tech, so when you get a bike, hit me up!

thanks Eric.
It's a GS500 I'm working on.
There are really/honetly very few bikes I was considering.
Ninja 500, SecaII 600, Bandit 400, Buell Blast(don't laugh), and one or two others were the only things I'd consider besides the GS.
Obviously though, the GS is MUCH higher on my scale.  =)
Even if/when I get something else, I will NOT get rid of my GS this time.

HUZZAH!
I put a deposit down on a GS500.
Not saying anything else just yet. (Don't wanna jinx myself.)
It's a BEAUTIFUL bike though.
Two weeks...................

I live right next to Norcross (Roswell, 3 miles from the city limit).  Maybe we can go ride sometime.  My roommate has a superhawk, my co-worker has a 99 R6 (my former bike), and another friend of mine has a superhawk.  I ride an '03 R6.

I think I still have a motor-cover gasket left over from my old GS500........

Awesome!
As long as you guys don't mind a beginner/returning rider that will have a pucker factor of a BAJILLION for a little while. LOL.
I plan on taking the MSF course but will be a few weeks after I get my bike for certain.

Lol. I sold that GS500 about a year ago (around april, 2006).   It is owned by a friend of mine who is using it to learn how to ride.  I took photos of the tabs you added ([ur==http://gstwins.com/gsboard/index.php?topic=25399.0]made a post here about it[/url] with photos)

No, the fairing never gave me any trouble.  There was a grommet on the tail section that didn't stay on its mounting tab perfectly, but that is the only complaint I would have.

The banana tube clip-ons were very handy for tight turns.

As an aside, here's a photo of my current bike (2003 R6 with a GSXR exhaust that I custom-fit to the bike):

Thanks for the vote of confidence, sometimes even I am surprised when I find that sheite works ... like the seca, god knows how long it sat, and I swap out a motor (which as I heard about it sounded like it ran recently) but the rest of the bike has sat forever, and it runs and all the sheite works including the horn.
Glad the fairing is working, going through all the trouble will be a beeyatch if it didn't work.
Cool.
Srinath.

Hey Srinath, you have any of those pics for me? I still think I'm going to stay with the red as I think it's sweet looking. A pic of that B4 rear would be cool too.
I'm looking forward to next weekend and absolutely driving everyone I know crazy because of it. LOL.

If still wanting good GS500 check mine out at webshots.com search member Jezecat.  Also I have it up on cycletrader.com  search Suzuki 500 state MS.
Beyound what is listed I put a Wal-Mart battery in it 2 months ago.
I just took it for a ride just now and I hate to let it go but too many bikes.  I'll make you a deal because this site has been good for me.
