Title: finished the rejet(forgot to mention my problem)
Post by: mach1 on June 27, 2007, 08:56:48 PM
I finally got my jets from bikebandit today. Im running a 22.5/65/147.5 with a bassani slip-on(free flow) and UNi Pods. I think im runnign a tad bit lean still but I have yet to shim the needle. The bike runs great has a slight hang but not that bad, Other than that all is good. My next mod will be a 14t up front. :thumb:. now when I free rev the bike when rolling my headlight flickers but only when I have the highbeam on. what would a rejet have to do with that. did that make anysense  :dunno_white: I have have about 5 double shot of rum and like 6 of tequila so im a bit out but still holding on.

You might want to give us an expanded definition of "slight hang" and "flicker".

Can't see how rejetting is going to effect the high beam, unless it's just something you jostled while working on it.

Congrats on completing it, my sympathies for the hangover...

the slight hand means when I rev it, it wont comae back to idle as fats as I think it should but it also doesnt get stuck above idle so it may be me. And when I say flicker I mean it will shutof then come on everytime I rev the engine, the low beam is fine.

Maybe your pilot jetting is too rich?

I use 20 pilots (and have experimented with leaving the stock 17.5's) and they both seem sufficient to me?  :dunno_white:

Most folks say not returning to idle quickly is associated with too lean...

Simple things first.. you're certain you don't have the two throttle cables just a little to snug, working against each other? It's easy to do, and that fits the symptom...

I'm surprised. Your setup looks very close to mine, and I recently went back to 20 pilots for a couple of weeks, then gave up on it and re-installed the 22.5 pilots. Way too much angry popping going on during compression braking, and it didn't seem to effect anything else as much as the mixture screws.

so this is my full update. The bike starts good when choke is on before it sucked. pulls great and the pods sound friggin awsome. When I sit at a consistant speed the bike surges. from what the wiki tells me im running rich :icon_confused:. so im lean at low end and rich at top or what. idle hangs and bike surges.

I'm going to say lean surge/"hunting".

I'd go ahead and put two shims on the needles. See my .sig, that's where I am now, and for sure I would have those symptoms without them.

yeah I am lean I check the plugs and double checked the wiki and under lean was surging so I will use 2 3m washers under both needles. Thanks WW you have been the most help in my jetting process.
