Something along the lines of this:

and to tell you the truth, the drivetrain is smooth as silk, especially the gearbox, but I just don't care for the handling too much. It is a beautiful bike though and I will enjoy it for the time being.
Dude, if you don't like it send it my way. I'll ride it for ya    :thumb:
Ok what's wrong with the handling in your opinion?
Nice bike BTW. Should have waited for the 08 models though. Rumor is that they are putting the 1000rr on a diet to get it back down to it's original concept which was to have the best handling litre bike on the road.
If I were to buy an 07 it would be an R1, which still doesn't handle as well as the 954.
A couple of my friends I ride with have test rode my bike while I rode theirs. The current crop of 1000's make more power than my 54 but none of them handled as well. The litre bike riders said the turn in was terrifyingly fast compaerd to what they were used to. The 600cc guys were just scared shitless of a bike with the same handling they had become accustomed to but puts down 68 ft/lbs of torque and 138 rwhp.
Newer was not better for the fireblade from 04 0n. Hopefully 08 will se my beloved honda return to the top.

It simply requires more effort and I seem to be pushing it harder to handle the same things that the vtwin bikes I have ridden in the past few years simply flow through. The steering damper is great at making the bike incredibly stable in high speed sweepers but it also makes for a different experience in lower speed stuff. Even though it is fairly light it just seems to show its weight more than others. This perception may change a bit as I become more accustomed to it but right now I'm just not sure whether it will be an acquired taste or just something that doesn't suit me well. It is a gorgeous bike though and I absolutely love the gearbox.

Yeah, but I wouldn't have gotten half the deal that I did on this one. It is an 04 with 1144 miles, Two Brothers exhaust, a power commander, undertail kit, etc. Even with as much as I like the aesthetics of the bike and the powertrain if I hadn't gotten the deal that I did I would really have had no desire to get into a liter inline four.
dude youo still in amarillo? I wanna take her around the block haha...i haven't had a chance to run a 1000RR.
I expect that when you move from a GS to a literbike there aren't many bones to pick
Yep 04 was the worst year for the 1000. Honda made a few tweaks in 05 to improve handling. The 06 redesign saw major improvements in the 1000rr's handling but IMHO it was still too piggish. In the end it's still a fun ride though, so yeah I can see snatching up if it was a good deal. Have fun man. Didn't mean to sound critical, I thought you had gone out and bought an 07 was all. In which case waiting would have been a better idea.

Just an FYI, this is not my first big bore bike nor is it my only bike or even a direct step from when I had the gs. I actually had both an rf900r and an sv1000 directly before the gs. My current main bike is even the gt650r not the cbr1000r.
Mak - yup, still in Amarillo.
bp - I would agree, in the end it is still a fun ride.
