Title: 1989 gs500E - Errant Hose
Post by: bman40 on July 03, 2007, 01:35:35 PM
so, took my co-worker out to the parking lat to check out my bike....showing off time..and:

(http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x259/bman40/IMG_1591.jpg) there is this hose hanging out...indicated by the super high-tech pointign device (aka HB pencil)  :)

Any idea where it connects to?

:dunno_white:

It seems to run down next to the frame, and the other end looks like:
(http://i181.photobucket.com/albums/x259/bman40/IMG_1594.jpg) you can see the end just under the two frame bolts....

When I hunch down and look under the tank there seems to be a spot on the side of the carb with a nipple on it, and given the angle of the bend it looks like it might go there...I sniffed the end of the hose and it does not smell like fuel.

Any idea? I checked the Wiki and the hose routing diagram there seems to focus on the left side only...this is on the right hand side of the bike.

thanks for the help.

Looks like the water drain tube for the tank to me.

It attaches to the under side of the tank next to the tank-mounted petcock. It drains water that enters around the gas cap out and away from the bike

so I tried for like an hour to get the hose back on - without taking the tank off- no joy.  It looks like that's the ony way to get it back on there..

any risk with running without it until the weekend?
