Have you guys seen the new 2008 GS650F? It's a 4-cyl new model for '08. I wonder if this means that the 500 is gone. Check it out at www.suzukicycles.com (they have a special '08 feature on the front page).
It looks a lot like a 500, but it's about 100 lbs heavier...
Thats the GSX 650F, a faired bandit. Probally to replace the Katana. ( I think I read somewhere that the Katana was going to be discontinued.)
The GS 500F is still there.
Ya 500 isnt going away next year
wow i realy regret buying a 500 now
i love the rear on it , i love its FI , its got ruff fairings ,
id fighter it
I kinda like the look of the B-King,hehe though honestly it may look horrible in person.
I like th look of the 650F as well. I wonder how many horses it has. Im also wondering if it falls into the sportbike insurance bracket cause thats not an insureance rate that Id want to pay.
I want a B king!!!!!!!!!!!!! . i dont like the fact the Busa's so wide,. but the B King... Oh Baby :thumb:
Ill be 30 or 40 in this country before i can have one , the way insuance is , oh well , :thumb:
That B King is hawtness....too bad I'd kill myself on it (right after I dropped it)....
I like the look of the B-king.....but it ends there :icon_confused: Too heavy and too wide. It's running a front tire wider than a GS rear :o :o
The new 650 is a friggin' pig at the weight that is being claimed.
The Katana was ugly, but at least it didn't weigh a metric tonne.
I'd choose an sv650 over that. I don't like the way the frame is made out of round pipe instead of something rectangular.
Terry , I didnt wanna point this out , but its running a 120 front and a 200 Rear, so unless ur gs was on a diet :thumb:
Good looking bike. Looks like a fazer or a vstorm (ya i know).
Upright ergos and a decent windscreen.
HELLLLLLLLLLLO! FUel Injection ! ++++
HELLLLLLLLLLLO! Four valves ! ++++
Gotta wait till 2010 (I never buy a 'first gen / first run'). -
Parts won't be all over like the GS. Sure, you can buy crap that's pretty, but the solids will be hard to find for quite a while. (It's not a busa either, so everyone isn't going to like it) -
On a big plus, nothing changes about the GS500, it's still here, still fun, and still tons of parts out there for it. Not to mention folks using it as a 'starter' bike and paying the stupid tax (new bike) for us. ;)
i like the b-king but did you see the price $13000. it's a grand more than the busa but it looks so much better but a little on the heavy side 520lbs, 35 more than the busa.
Hey Jay,
Thanks for pointing that out. I f%&ked up :thumb:
Still stands that the B-king is a behemoth at 520lbs dry and Suzuki decided to use a de-tuned engine in it. I'd take my 13k right down to an exotics dealer and ride something Italian instead :thumb:
( BTW upon seeing both monsters and brutales. I want a brutale 910r. That is one dead sexy bike)
Only 13,000 bucks
i can save that in 8 months!
according to the SVrider.com the GSX650F is replacing the GS500F :(

i hope thats not true. While the GSX650F looks kinda cool, its got a steel frame and weighs a friggin ton! :nono:
how much is the 650 going to be, i really like it

QuoteAvailable December of 2007 with a MSRP of $6999
answered my own question
Jay, Save your money :thumb: And get an italian nekkid bike :thumb: :icon_mrgreen: you can get fairly new 910r brutale's for 10-12k :icon_twisted: :icon_twisted:
Holy crap they actually made the b-king.... I remember reading about it when it was a concept a few years ago.... bitchin. :thumb:
i want the bking!!!!
I want to trade my gs500f for a gixxer in a few years. probably a 750

It shows as a 2007 though. Guess we will see when they prune the 2007s from the list.
I can't imagine they would remove the GS from production and Let Kawasaki rule the entry 2 cylinder sportbike department. I like the 650F and I'm interested in seeing some HP and mpg figures. I think the kicker for me will be whether or not the aftermarket jumps on it. The #1 thing i don't like about the GS is the limited availability of aftermarket stuff.
Sorry, B-King is about as appealing as Burger King at steak prices.
650F though is hot.
Cool.

This from someone who likes Salvages! :P
Actually, 13K is a ridiculous price, but I'd take the BKing if I won it! :icon_mrgreen:
why the hell did they name it BKing :nono:  sexy bike tho :thumb:

The prototype when it was introduced was the "Boost King", turbocharged.
Somewhere along the line that was dropped (we aren't ready), so the "B-King" hasn't got any "B" anymore. Funny, it's still priced like it.
I expected to be really enthusiastic about it, but multiple electronic "riding modes" (yeah, like you're going to have time to fool with that when the feces hit the fan), catalyst, slipper clutch (because you're not bright enough to keep from breaking the rear loose on downshifting), and an absurd price tag... pass.
I wonder if they kept the auto dial 911 feature... I remember the prototype had this deal that sensed when you downed it and auto-called for help. Granted, I'm sure it would do the same thing as soon as you break 80mph too...
I'd rather get myself a nice Z1000... or even a Speed Triple. Either way, you'd save yourself from throwing money away.

Not stock it won't. Stock, all bikes have the same allowed volume.
SO your saying , http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=06obf_vQKbc
Has the same Volume as Say , A Gs
I'm saying that the same standards are applied:

I suspect that Europe is similar.
Ah , point taken , but lets think , if u put a pair of Race pipes on it .. Mhmmm ;)
*ahem*

Who's that at the top end of hp???

So what if the triple out- torques it the brutale is dead sexy :icon_twisted:
Also note that the brutale is the smallest displacement bike in this group, and is over 100cc's smaller than the S3

Yeah, but look at how peaky it is. Note that the Speed 3 has more power than the Brutale up until it runs out of revs, which is at a little over 9k RPMs. Yeah, the Brutale might have higher peak horsepower, but the Triple has a far more user friendly motor. Notice that the Speed Triple has more power over a wider range than every bike on that chart?
And then there is the massive torque output.
What it all really comes down to is:
All 4 of those bikes are very similar in power/handling, yes some are more finnicky than others, but for the vast majority of people the deciding factor between those 4 dead sexy bikes should be whichever you like the austhetics of best. I've heard that the brutale is a very 'jumpy' bike and requires a much more attentive rider than the other 3 bikes. I dunno, I liked the S3 before I saw it in person, and I didn't really care for the brutale before I saw it in person. :dunno_white:

What did you to do smoothen out that power band?
That is so fun bags...
Torque is all that really matters HP is an equation of something like HP=weight[volicty/234] to the 3. apllied Torque and the curve make all the differance. You can change the HP of anything buy changing the weight.

I believe your understanding of horsepower is flawed. Some reference material from which to start:

Not mine, I wish!
The guy had a custom exhaust (custom made, but I think any full system will do), and a PC3.
Looks so hot, though I'd prefer the Arrow exhaust over his custom one.
That exhaust really doesn't do it for me. Arrow pipes on the other hand are dead sexy :thumb:
I guess the reason I don't like the S3 is because the lines are so flowing a smooth.............like a 'busa just not ghey. The brutale is a very angular and aggressive looking bike.
Crucial: even the S3 stock has some awesome torque specs when compared to other bikes. I posted that comparison of the Speed3, Duc S4R, Brutale and Tuono. Also, I think at some point you heard someone reffering to a vehicles HP/weight ratio, which although not incredibly acccurate can give you a decent idea of how two vehicles stack up to eachother ( say a car and bike)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Horsepower
Relationship with torque
For a given torque, the equivalent power may be calculated. The standard equation relating torque in foot-pounds, rotational speed in RPM and horsepower is:
P / {\rm hp} = {[\tau / ({\rm ft \cdot lbf})] [\omega / ({\rm r/min})] \over 5252}
This is what I was trying to get at.
Back to the gs650f, the motor is the 650 bandit & that is claimed to be 85 hp at 10500rpms, the hole bike mite be a bandit with new skins on it. But i'll keep saving for the BENELLI TnT CAFE RACER thanks.
I really like the bike, it looks better then the naked bandit. I like that speed tripple though damn nice bike.
The HP thing I got from A friend in engineering school :dunno_white: Figured he knows more then me.
I just stumbled over the new bikes on the Suzuki website, and the GSX650F does look nice. I wonder where the SVRiders poster got his info though: the GSX650F is a much better candidate to replace the Katana than the GS500. Unless Suzuki is totally out of touch with who rides the GS500 it doesn't make any sense at all since they're totally dissimilar.
GS500F
Engine Type: Parallel Twin
Weight: 397 lb.
RWHP: ~40
Price: $5200
Market: Beginners, commuters
GSX650F
Engine Type: I-4
Weight: 475 lb.
RWHP: ~85 (hey bugcool where did you get this?)
Price: $7000
Market: Dumb beginners, beginners ready for a more powerful bike
They're entirely different bikes. Compare it to a Katana 600 though-
Katana 600
Engine Type: I-4
Weight: 460 lb.
RWHP: ~80
Price: $7000
Market: Dumb beginners, beginners moving up, sport tourers
The GS650F is much closer to even the SV650S (same displacement, similar HP, similar price). I can't see how Suzuki would use the GS650F as a replacement for the GS500 when they fill entirely different roles and cater to far different parts of the market.
