Title: Rust in tank, how do I fix?
Post by: Slater1601 on July 04, 2007, 07:16:03 AM
Well I popped the tank in the GS I just got and found out there is some rust growing in the bottom. Its not real bad, but there is a good bit of it in there. Whats the best way to go about removing it?

Boil it at a radiator shop, then sandblast/mediablast, then kreme it. Some folks like other things, <shrug> it works for a while.

Best way to prevent rust is keep the tank FULL especially with wide temperature changes daily. A little stabile or seafoam wouldn't hurt either.

Search the site for POR or Kreem.  There are several threads on coating the tank.  Basically, it's an acid wash and coating.

The first place I'd start is the FAQ section.  Probably has the procedure there.

Yeah I've read a few, where can I get the POR-15 kit? Is it only available on their website or can I get it at Lowes/Home Depot?
