New to the group. I'm trying to troubleshoot an intermittent turn signal indicator.
1999 new to me a few weeks ago. Some aftermarket modifications (exhaust, air filter, jets – I know from reading the maintenance records). Shorter flashers (told carbon fiber?) but not LED.
Flashers always work. However, the indicator does not always work. Battery checks out fine with ~12V.
I've checked the indicator bulb and it looks ok. At first it seemed like it would only work when the engine was running but now I can find no pattern. Best I can tell is sometimes turning the handlebars or starting the engine (vibrations) will make it work but nothing is repeatable. When it's blinking, nothing I've done so far will make it not work (wiggling wires, turning handlebars, etc). I tried re-seating the bulb and that has made no difference. No difference for left or right operation. I was thinking to remove the headlight and check the wiring connectors next. I'll probably replace the bulb as well since that is easy and cheap. I'm mostly guessing at this point.
Anyone had this problem before?
New bulb. My understanding is that sometimes the filament can touch just right, form a circuit, and work, but then vibrations knock it loose again, and it no longer functions.
That's what I was told, when my high beam light went out. Just sayin.. it's like $.50 to try.

slap some LEDs in there and it wont happen again :thumb: did they ever make those non polarized 74's?
Another fine example of the solution being the obvious simple one, so often we go off at a tangent looking for answers and solutions much more complex than they need to be.
