Title: Ebay Tires
Post by: JasonB on July 31, 2003, 09:37:41 AM
So which would be better for spirited street use? I need a 150 for my rear and this works great for a set.

both are suposed to be good tires.

I'd say go with whichever you can get cheapest.  ;)

uh... remember what I said about not skimping on tires...

Both of those tires are USED RACE tires.  They don't last as long as street tires and behave differently. They don't heat up fast and never reach the temp where they grip on the street. They also look pretty beat up  so are probably used up.

Plus a 150 isn't very good on a stock GS rim. You have to modify the caliper brace and the sprocket hub to fit.

I say pass.  Spend the extra $100 on new tires that you know will fit.

I have a larger GSXR rear wheel that I need a 150 tire for and if I get one for that I need one for the front too. Looking for something inexpensive and race takeoffs make it for about half the cost of new.

the michelin takes alot of heat....operating temp for the tire is 230-270
range....you will almost never get that kind of heat in them on the street in MI.....

Donlop...i havent had a dunlop since 95-96.....

The Supercorsa is a great race tire, and it heats very easily even in +2C weather. I've unfortunately tried it at that several times! It would likely be fine on the street, but I wouldn't expect it would go more than 3 or 4,000 km, even on a GS.

I've been scared to try it in the rain though. There is no tread on the sides. I've gheard they are great in the rain, and I've heard they are lousy. Don't know!

I also have a 120 front and 150 rear Supercorsa race take off that I'd let go pretty cheap...

After hearing about race tires not getting enough heat to stick on the street I might have to stay away from race tire takeoffs. Werent some people using street tires for race tires? Where can I find those?
